leases

Wasssssaaaaaaaahhhhhh, gals.

I just had a question about apartment leases while being married to the deployed. Not all of the deployed, mind you.

Backstory:

1.I moved into an apartment complex while we were dating.
2.We got married.
3.He had to deploy 4 days later (yes, we were not prepared for that)
4.I wanted to get out of my lease (just had moved from a house to save money but dogs didn't have enough room, apartments suck in general IMO, etc).
5.I ask the office manager about filling out an application for my husband and she said, "We may or may not add him because he's stationed in Ft. Bragg which is 2 hours away and he can't live at two places at once." So I said, "Well, JAG knows better than me and he's got an appointment with them next week but I'll have him ask them about that."
6.JAG says it's no problem. So I fill out an application and pay the app fee.
7.Didn't hear anything from the apartment complex. Called to check on the application and was told the office Manager, Kristy, would call.
8.I stopped by the office 6-8 times, called about the same amount. Same thing. Kristy will get back to you. This goes on for 6 weeks.
9.Last Friday I get the name of Kristy's supervisor and call. Explain the story. She says she'll have Kristy call me.
10.Kristy calls later that day and says, "We can't allow him to be on the lease because he's deployed. It's our policy not to allow someone on the lease if they aren't living there." I ask her why it's taken 6 weeks to tell me this. She said she called the day I turned in the application but if she did, she didn't leave a message. Besides, I turned it in on a Saturday, when she wasn't working. So they took his application and my application fee knowing he was deployed. Then denied it because he's deployed.

PRESENT DAY:

I get the number of the company that owns this apartment complex and my husband calls from Kuwait. He speaks with the district manager and directly asks her, "Am I not allowed to be on the lease because I'm deployed?" She plainly states, "No, you're married. There's no reason why you couldn't be. I'll have the regional manager call you or your wife tomorrow."

I can't even begin to tell you how happy this makes me that this shizzle sucker, Kristy, might be in for a surprise when I tell her that one of her highest bosses have completely contradicted what she has said.

My question is this:

Have you guys been in this situation? Has the landlord let you add your deployed husband to the lease? Does anyone know if typically they can be added? Are these office woman just being douches? Also, anyone want to take a stab at the chances that the regional manager will concur with the district manager which means since the DM said it's okay, the RM will say it's okay, and the Kristy bitch and her good friend, the supervisor, will get my glorious triumphant stink eye? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
