So, the rembrandt exhibit was pretty cool. Michelle was just as excited as I was about seeing pieces of work by the best if not the most popular dutch artist of all time. We were hoping that the crowds would be small, but as we walked into the exhibit there were tons of people. To my surprise most of the pieces at on exhibit were paintings I had already seen at Rijksmuseum in Amsterdamn. But this time I looked at them with a different eye. Instead of being critical, I really just tried to imagine myself in the images. At the time Dutch impressionism in the 17th century was some of the finest art in the world. Borrowed from high renaissance and early baroque, these paintings were such an achievment. The exhibit was very rewarding, thanks to Nicholas Maes, Melchior d'Hondecoeter and Gerard ter Borch some of my personal favorites. I respect Rembrandt as a an artist, but more as a man who could sell his own self portrait with true impressionism.
