Well, this is going to be a big update. Learned more to Long fist, section 2 and almost done with Cha Quan form 2.
Continuing long fist, section 2:
1. From the balance pose, right leg should be up and covering left knee while the left hand is under the arm pit covering in a palm block. Right hand should be in a downward backfist smash.
2. From that pose, go into the 360 backsweep kick combo. Slap back of right hand to the palm of left hand over the head. Stomp down with the right foot and balance on left foot. In this instance, bring the palms to the side of your waist, palms facing out. Step out into a left bo-stance and do a double palm push strike. Drop into a drop stance with the weight on the left leg and do a 360 backsweep kick.
3. From the backsweep kick, end in the left bo-stance again. From here, thread the left hand in while the right arm goes forward and up to the back behind you. Follow the right hand by turning your body to face backward.
4. As the right hand comes down it should be in a horizontal block. Left hand should swing around as well and block in the same manner. Pull the left hand back into the armpit of your right arm as your right hand shoots out in a spear hand, palm up.
Continuing Cha Quan, form 2:
1. From the sit stance, flash palm, pinch grab; do a eagle claw dive chop. Swing the flash palm right hand down and around in a full circle and chop downward as you jump into a right drop-stance, weight on right leg. Left hand should follow up and around but comes around and blocks in palm form out of the right armpit.
2. Balance pose (forgot the real balance name). The right hand should swing up and behind still in palm form. Left hand should come down and to the front in palm form. Stand up and balance on left leg and raise the right leg to be parallel to the right arm.
3. Tricky: Step forward with right leg and swing the right arm forward as the left arm goes back. Jump off the left leg and do a right heel kick as the left hand shoots forward in a palm strike. This should be done together.
4. Land on left leg and just as the right leg steps down into a right bo-stance, swing the left arm back and around to above the head in a flash palm while the right hand does a punch.
5. Step back with right leg just a little behind left leg. Bring the hands to the sides in open palm form, palms facing out. It should be a circular motion when you bring the hands to the sides.
6. Tricky: Step forward right leg, straight spear strike with right hand. Step left and straight spear strike with left hand. Do a hop skip and land in crouch stance. This time flash palm with right hand, but punch to the left with the left hand.
Modified: Step foward with right leg and spear hand with right hand. Spear hand with left hand without taking the step. Hop-skip off the right leg that's out forward already and land in the crouch stance.
7. Tricky: Stand back up and face behind as you stand from the crouch stance, like a half turn since the legs are already cross from the crouch stance. As you stand, cross the left hand over the right hand, open palms. This palm motion should come from down and up into the cross as the turning is complete.
8. Do a palm push strike (not the right name but I forget the real one). The arms should circle down and out to the sides. But instead of pushing out behind and forward, the palms should snap up into the palm strike. Right hand palm should be higher than the left hand. And the instant the palms snap up, hit an empty stance with left leg in front.
9. Tricky: Bring the left leg in with the toe pointing down, to the right right foot. Similar draw the left hand into the right shoulder, since it'll be doing a grab. Right hand should go to waist. Hop-skip and during that time, at the end, the left hand should do the grab with the back of the hand facing out. Chop over with right hand, but thread the left hand in and over the right arm. The arms should end with left hand in a flash palm and the right hand in a pinch grab. Do a 360 front sweep with the right leg with the hands in this position. VERY difficult. Land in a left drop-stance with the weight on the left leg.
10. Circle up and around once with the hands and cross left over right. Just like in long fist side-thrust kick practice. Step behind with right leg as the palms cross. Finish with a left side-thrust kick with both hands in flash palm. Right hand over head and left hand alongside the left leg.
Phew...what an update. Cha Quan form 2 shall be complete by the next semi-private lesson. Which leaves me to wonder what to do next. Cha Quan was already a specialization, which I didn't know. Hence I did ask Sifu what I could pursue. I'm considering the following that Sifu is very well known for in specialization forms:
Taiji quan/jian - Tai chi fist/sword
Tanglan quan - Praying mantis style
Yingzhao quan - Eagle claw style
Zui quan/jian - Drunken fist/sword
Shuangshoujian - two-handed straight sword
Dadao - Giant/Great broad sword
Honestly with this list, it'll be very expensive since I believe my friend won't be taking these with me. Hence I need to choose either one of these styles to take with Sifu OR opt to do a performance routine. The performance routine would be a wushu routine, but set to music. Most of the forms listed will take 5 to 10 lessons with Sifu since he's the only one that knows how to do them. The performance routines are very open-ended in terms of time to learn and practice them...though this one I did run by some other coaches that might teach me for free, but it won't be as professional if Sifu was the one coaching me through it. I'm at a loss as to what to do. I want to all of it, but I know I can't. Hmm.............what to do...?
