DECEMBER 2015
TOKYO, JAPAN 9th - 20th Dec
Wednesday, 9th
Waking up early since our flight is in the morning. It's hard to get up at 4am. It's already hard to wake up every day at 5.30am so 4am is worse. Had to really push myself to wake up.
Left the house at about 5 plus after a quick breakfast. And guess what, the lift broke down. What luck. So dragged the luggage down the stairs. But lucky we are only at the 3rd storey. Put the luggage in daddy's car and off we go to the airport.
We check-in quite fast and didn't dilly dally and straight away went in for flight. We had some free time before the flight so slacked around and took selfies.
In flight we had 2 meals, brunch and lunch. It was YUM YUM. Can't really remember what I did in the flight but most probably was watching cartoon movies. Nothing much to do anyway.
Once we touched down, cleared immigration and all went to get a SIM card. This is really important for us to help us navigate and not bore ourselves there. While trying to set it up was approached by an airport staff who wanted us to do a survey so we did and we received a pen each. It was nice.
Once we are done with the phone set up went to top up our SUica and we go onto the train. We went straight to the hotel. Since by the time we reach the hotel, we are able to check in, we did just that and went into the room to relax a bit. Took a breather and at about 6 pm went out towards Tokyo Tower. It was cold but nice. Really cooling that night. It was also a lovely night time view at Tokyo Tower and I enjoyed myself fully taking pictures and all. There was also some winter illumination thingy going on and we stood around watching those. It was lovely.
Before heading back, we sat down and had some taiyaki in the shape of Tokyo Tower. YUM. And since at the bottom of the tower, there was an anime shop, we bought kujis from there. It was on offer too. Can't believe my first goods are Kuji items. Hahaha.
Thursday, 10th
Couldn't really sleep so woke up earlier than the alarm. So took a shower and got ready. The hotel we stayed at had free breakfast so went down for breakfast. Jap food! But had to be careful with our choices. Overall it was fine and it was YUM.
After breakfast, freshen up and went out. Headed out to Ueno to get our advance ticket for Skyliner for our trip back to airport on the last day. Then we went over to Meguro and visit the Parasite Museum, one that we wanted to visit before but got lost before reaching it. We took a bus and got down at the right stop and headed the right way after heading the wrong way again. Haiz... But being at the museum was very educational. Like really. And I think I might be carrying some parasite on me. Scary... Bought some postcards to remind myself of the parasite. (MIGI!!!)
Then went over to Shinjuku to get our advance tickets for FujiQ Highlands. I had trouble finding the counter and was in the wrong queue until one officer told me to go to the second level. Oh well... Embarrassed but couldn't be helped.
Once that is done, headed over to Akihabara where we shopped till we dropped. Bought a lot of stuffs here and I really think I was in bad financial state. I had a wish list but got items that were not inside. YABAI DEMO HOSHII. What to do. I just buy what I want. Don't wanna regret later.
After reconsidering my budget for the remaining days, went to sleep.
Friday, 11th
I think I have a habit of waking up earlier than the alarm. Showered and got ready. Went down for breakfast. Starting to love the white rice that they serve and the tamagoyaki.
After breakfast and freshening up went out to Tachikawa. The train station was packed and so was the train. Squeeze our way into the train, got elbowed, pushed and shoved and squeezed. I was lucky that my badges didn't got caught and fell off. I was super sad when one of my acrylic badge broke the day before. The remaining days I really protected my badges but nearer the end of the trip, my badge decided to give up hanging on. SAD.
Gachaman Crowds was based at Tachikawa so took pictures of their iconic symbol before heading off to Puroland. And was glad to have chosen that day since it seems to be a rainy day. Puroland was all indoors so we got to enjoy it fully. A good decision indeed.
Puroland was heaven for girls who love Sanrio characters. Took a lot of pictures here and tried almost everything that they have to offer. Watched the shows and parades. We even took a stop at the cafe and had something to rejuvenate ourselves. But we were not able to do everything since there was quite a number of overlapping show timings. We also avoided the long queues. However overall a good experience.
We left Puroland to go star gazing but since the weather is bad, we only got a lecture about the stars that we were supposed to observe. It was all in Jap but very educational. If only we could do some real star gazing. (Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are...)
Saturday, 12th
Got ready after everyone else and went down for breakfast but the place was full so had to wait. And since it was early in the morning, my jap failed me. Oh well... We still managed to get through breakfast and headed over to Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise.
There was some kind of display or event going on that day. Saw a lot of mascots for the different departments for safety, I think. They are all so cute and all the children there were so cute too.
Bought the tickets and headed over to the Museum first. Went to catch the movie, we were lucky since there was only 2 movies per day and if we miss that we won't have a chance to catch it again. Our timing was perfect. After the movie, went around the museum and the other 3 aqua areas.
One of the areas was a fishing area but we didn't fish since we didn't feel like it. And I don't really like fish to begin with. So we just look around and see what kind of fishes were there. We were really walking above the water so it was quite scary. Dun wanna drop anything in or even drop in myself.
When we went over to the dolphin area, the dolphins didn't want to come to our side and let us touch them. It was so sad. I really wanted to touch the dolphins. But seeing them close by is already a blessing.
I have always love aquarium so I enjoyed my time there. Even bought a kuji and got myself a small dolphin plushie which is sitting at my work table.
After that we went to Yokohama station where we stop by animate. Somehow my stomach didn't feel too well and had to go to the ladies. Bad timing of my stomach ache. After settling my stomach went around shopping for anime goods and bought a lot. Don't wanna regret after all. So shop and shop before heading back to hotel.
Sunday, 13th
Got up early just to watch World Trigger on TV. Then slacked in bed for a while before getting ready. Went for breakfast as usual and went out for a DJ event at Tokyo Big Site. It was our first time going for such an event so it was definitely a doki doki moment. Spent quite some time queuing and it was raining so had to use an umbrella since the queue was outside of the hall. Once the hall was opened, we went in and started going to the places where we should be going and bought what I think I should be buying. It was really interesting to see all these DJ authors and their fans interacting with each other and stuffs. There were also cosplayers and they were awesome. A good experience and definitely something that I would love to attend again if given the chance.
After the event, went to Budoukan and just took a picture there since there was some event going on there. I think it was a Karate Competition.
So went off to Tokyo Dome City and braved the rain. My hood was soaked. It was raining the whole day and I was soaked. Oh well... Got what I wanted from Jump Shop and Moomin bakery and moved on to Tokyo Station. At Tokyo Station we got lost and had to ask for directions. So sad. We had to walk a lot this day.
But after all the walking we managed to get a seat at a sweets shop and ate waffles. After that went to shop again. Bought more haikyu stuffs and bought Calbee as food SV. Then went back to hotel room and watch anime.
Monday, 14th
Was most probably PMS-ing throughout the whole day. Was on the edgy side and a bit frustrated with every little thing. And when I did a fortune, it turns out to be BAD. Like really BAD. The worse of the worse.
On this day we went to FujiQ Highlands. Woke up really early and got ready. Took the train out to Shinjuku where we had to wait for bus. But since we arrived a bit early went to have a cup of coffee at starbucks. Then went back to the bus station and even managed to go ladies first before the bus ride. It was a 2 hours bus ride all the way to FujiQ highlands. Glad to have my MP3 player. It kept me company throughout the ride. And the view was awesome too. The rural side and the mountains can really heal your soul.
Walked to the entrance and took a picture there. Then exchange our vouchers for tickets and went in. It was a day pass so was able to ride as many rides as we want, as many times as we want.
The first stop is the haunted house since we wouldn't want to be waiting in the long queue. So went there first and it was an amazing place. Minus the fact that I was choking most of the time thanks to my lil sis' friend pulling my shirt, it was a great experience. Not so scary but it was thrilling. The screaming and running and trying to make sure no one was caught and all. Bought a sticker picture to bring home as a souvenir. There was this one actor acting as a nurse who was all creepy in his speech.
Next we went on a wet ride. Getting wet in winter is crazy but we did it anyway. Totally frozed after that. Thought it would dry if we get on rides with the wind and all but we were wrong, the wind just made us freeze up. But it was fun riding the bicycle ride on the tree top, viking on a smaller scale, a mystery house, a dark ride where we only listen to a story in the dark, merry-go-round, dizzy cup and etc. Wanted to ride on a coaster but they didn't want to risk it so I didn't push for it either. We went on the Ferris wheel twice, once in broad day light another nearer the end of the park opening where the sky darkens and all the illuminations are out. Had fun with the rides.
We also get to try the crepe, ice-cream and taiyaki. And after a rest at the pit stop of the bus station, we got onto our bus and left for Shinjuku. Got back to hotel late.
Tuesday, 15th
I think my PMS continued. Tried my best to bear with it and got ready. Woke up grouchy and went to have breakfast. But somehow we got delayed somewhere and ended up arriving at Kawagoe later than expected and thanks to that we had to rush through the whole kawagoe.
But even with the rush we managed to get a sticky bun with potato filling, bought some sweet potato snacks in packets after sampling some of it, go in and out of shops and even bought my candies and brown bread. So even if it was a rush managed to do what we wanted to do and got out. It's only a pity that we could not go to any of the museums to get some history. It could only be done if we had more time. But maybe next time.
Heading down to Ikebukuro, we did a lot of spending here. Cafes and anime shops galore. I just couldn't stop myself. Didn't want to regret it later. So just went all out with the shopping and dining. No regrets after.
Managed to go to a butler cafe which I am hoping to give another go the next time. The butler was so good looking and so suave that I am dying. I think I was constantly blushing throughout the entire experience. There were some other butlers who were as good looking and can't help but give my eyes a feast. If only I can have a butler like that.
Wednesday, 16th
As the days continue I think we pretty much did nothing else but shop.
Went to Harajuku to have pancake first at RAINBOW pancake. Had to queue since we didn't make it on time for the first seats. Then after a good breakfast went to walk around Harajuku. First to the Haikyu store that opened for a short period of time only and bought all I wanted there. Then moved on to the other shops, even went to Johnny's but didn't enter. A shop where I bought a nice brooch was Alice on Wednesday was where we headed to next. We even went to a monster cafe at Harajuku too. The cafe was awesomely decorated even the ladies. A waiter there who dressed as a lady monster even played with my twin tail that day. We missed a photo chance but it's the memories that count.
More shopping after that and even after moving to Shibuya, it was more shopping. Went to Animate, mandarake and reject shop. It was another round of buying of goods and all. Money money money, all my money, it was all spent away.
Thursday, 17th
A short trip to Shinjuku where again I spent and spent. Found animate cafe but there was no seat so just stood around and had our drinks. But we took a lot of pictures of the stuffs on display.
Then off we went to find 81 actor museum but got lost somewhere. It was right next to me and I just missed it. Like how?! But we managed to get there anyway and spent some time there looking at all the items there. Then bought some souvenir as proof of being there since we weren't able to take any photos there.
Later that evening we spent a long time at Roppongi tower. We just slack there admiring the view from up there. The lights and Tokyo tower was so awesome. We really literally sat on the floor and enjoyed the view. It was splendid.
Friday, 18th
Went to Asakusa where there was a mini festival at the shrine. Bought some festival food and stood around eating it. After admiring the autumn foliage, went to a halal ramen restaurant and wow it was good. We had the special and had a good fill. We bought melon bread and went to get our panda bus ride. It was revenge from last time where we didn't manage to ride the panda bus. So took the panda bus all the way to sky tree.
At sky tree mall, we didn't go up the tower though, we spent some time just going to the shops and buying stuffs. We even stop a cafe to have a drink and at an ice-cream parlour to have some hokkaido ice-cream.
Then took the train back to asakusa to catch the water bus to Odaiba. The water bus tour was awesome like the previous time. But this time around I managed to get some sunset pictures which is now my wallpaper. It was awesome.
At Odaiba, ate a lot of takoyaki. We shop again and then made our way to Pallete Town after taking a picture of GUNDAM. At Pallete town just walked by it since there was nothing much to buy there. So we started to head back to the hotel.
Saturday, 19th
Went to visit the Shinagawa Aquarium. It was so near the hotel that we just needed to walk there. It was a great experience since we managed to catch 3 shows there. A dolphin, spotted sea lion and a sea lion show. They were awesome.
After a good time spent on sea animals, went to Suginama Anime Museum and watch chibi mariko chan episode. Walked around the museum and experience anime in history. It was a great learning journey.
Off to kichioji where we almost missed the live house where BACK-ON will be performing that night. But I have no ticket and there was no way I could watch it since our flight is early the next day. Took a photo and went off to find the cat cafe but it was fully booked and so we decided to give it up and move on. We instead went to rashinban and animate where I did my last minute shopping for anime goods.
That night packed like crazy.
Sunday, 20th
Flying off back to SG. Slept for less than 4 hours. Dragged our luggage and all to Ueno at 5.30 am. It was tiring dragging the luggage but had no choice. But it was all fine once we board the Skyliner for Narita Airport. Checked in and off to SG.
Reached SG safely.
