No Money Till Payday...

So after the snowstorm I paid $233.00 to fix a sensor in my power steering so that my car would pass an emission test, so that I could pay about $90.00 for new tabs... and I spent money on other things and wasn't very careful, and this is on my rent check, so I wound up short for rent and had to scramble to come up with more cash to put in my bank account to cover that.

Friday I put $20.00 in the gas tank an drove up to Kent and put nearly all the money I had left into my account to cover rent. That left me with a 20 dollar bill in my wallet. And as I'm driving home I'm thinking of what I should buy to last me through the weekend and for lunches for the first three days of next week -- I get paid on Wednesday. One of my problems is that my fridge is pretty empty -- after I lost power for 3 days, I had to throw a lot of stuff out. Which was good because I needed to clean it out anyway, but I don't have any meat in the freezer for example. So I'm thinking of buying some ground turkey for tacos or making chili or something.

So... for some reason, I decide that I DON'T want to break my last 20.00 bill. I don't know why, but doing that would make me feel even poorer. So instead of stopping at the store on the way home, I go all the way home and raid my spare cash container and change jar. From the top of the change jar I come up with $8.00 in quarters. There's a TON more buried in there but I just dig around in the change on the top, I don't dump it out or anything. From my spare cash I pull out $10.00 in crumpled $1.00 bills. I leave a a few in there, so I don't feel like I'm scraping the barrel or anything.

That's $18.00. I go to the store and buy stuff for both tacos and to make chili Sunday. And my total comes to...

$18.90.

Meh. I had to break my $20.00 after all. Now I have a wallet full of $1.00 bills and a pocket full of quarters. :p
