4 weeks from now...

This time next month, literally...Ill be out of this place for ever.

Ive cut here because some of the things Im going to tell you about this house is not for the squeamish or those easily put off their food.

This place has been my home for two years and as such youd think Id be sorry to see the back of it. For the good laughs and the company as well as the times Ive had here...youd be right. But this house has taught me that I can survive any conditions.

The first year I lived here I almost froze to death. I used to go to bed in a full layer or two of clothes everyday and every night I would shivver my way to sleep. You truly wouldnt beleive how cold it was if you didnt live here. Over the last summer Tommy our landlord has finally put in some double glazing windows, which has helped a bit...but not TOO much.

The reason it hasnt helped too much is because the central heating is fucked. Everyday not during summer-time the boiler would go off one or two times and we'd have to relight it. So during those times the house would be cold beyond belief. You could wake up on a morning and KNOW that the boiler would be off because you could see your breath. The bathroom and our kitchen doesnt even have a radiator.

Speaking of the bathroom, its a dive. We have a £5 shower installed which frankly, is shit. In our first year of living here Tommy (landlord) put double glazing windows in there, but when doing so didnt put in an extractor fan. Unfortunately we cant open the window in the bathroom because the backyard is such a mess and so crawling with infestation that we wouldnt dare open the window, otherwise we'd come downstairs to find a grizzly bear taking a bath. He'd be the only one brave enough to, nobody else would take a bath.

In the first year we also got our first introduction to slugs, in the kitchen, in the bathroom, big ones, maybe 5 or 6 a night. We were a little preturbed by that...at first. We get quite a lot of spiders too, but thats an utter minor problem. The big issue was when we had our rat, a massive one about a foot long (body). We saw it a few times, needless to say we almost shit ourselves when we did. We got the exterminators in and noticed a bad smell a week or two later, which got worse. We found the dead rat behind our freezer, that was a high point.

Year two was much better, festering mould in the bathroom and a roof that drips for a good couple of hours everytime someone has taken a shower. Said cheap shower was beginning to break at the hot-tap/fawcett valve. So if you try to have anything like a powerful shower it sends a nice stream of steaming hot water directed almost too perfectly towards the crotch area. Not nice.

I came downstairs one day to find a dead rat on the kitchen floor, wasnt huge but as we didnt even know that we might have one, it was a bit of an unwelcome surprise. We can no longer even visit the backyard because the backdoor has locked and is immovable. But who wants to go there in anycase? We think we've heard rats under the floorboards, so we're expecting another one to turn up dead sometime soon.

All in all when I leave in 4 weeks, Ill say goodbye to this house and I WILL NOT look back at it as the place when I grew to maturity. Ill see it as the absolute scumhole that it is.

Hope everyone is good.
