...gave up trying to figure it out...

she had a charcoal dress, held together with lint & banana peel shavings. her skin was the chalk white of kabuki dancers, & the cellophane tendrils of rope that fell from her scalp spiraled into patterns like dna strands on prom night. her sunken eye sockets reminded me of home. cracked fingernails beneath mildewed gloves...and i loved her. loved her with all my heart & soul. now, she wears flames around her ankles & pours honeysuckle from her slit wrists, letting it drip from her fingers into my eyes. i listen to her gnash her teeth at night & wonder where she stashed my entrails. i think she keeps my heart in a "Hello Kitty" lunch-box. her friends poke & prod at me with all the sympathy of a corpse, until my dreams trickle into their shot glasses. i'm hoping for rain, soon. let it wash away my sins. let it cleanse my palette. let it drown me in the mucous of the heavens. once & for all, let her finish her work.
