One week to go
I have until Jan. 15 to hand in all of my application materials for Doctoral programs. I have chosen the University of Ohio (Not OSU), University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and Texas Tech University. Yes, that means I'm getting further and further away from my beloved Northeast, but that is simply a matter of the fact that, outside of major cities, there aren't that many PhD programs for creative writing that offer a creative dissertation. If I end up at OU, Kim has agreed to come with me, which is the best of all possible circumstances.
I'm meeting with my advisor, who just had a kid, at three today to go over the final preparations. Hopefully I can get all the elements into the mail by Friday. I never thought the application process would be so tough.
Plus, I have sent the manuscript for three stories out to literary journals all over the country, and I'll post if they get accepted. The are weak, strong, and stronger. All in all, some of the best stories I've ever written.
And I shaved off my sideburns.
