Sweet Caroline...

I picture a scene from a bizarre war movie. A joint UN force is ambushed in some dogforsaken African village and a confused battle ensues. Unfortunately the commander of the UN troop has been bitten by some poisonous insect, has received an antidote, but unfortunately a little too much, so that he is prone to hallucinate under stress. In his confused state he partially believes himself to be a singer in a musical, and in between giving orders is acting out a song and dance routine, with armoured vehicles zooming around, men running here and there, and bullets flying. Through a combination of many ears of experience, and sheer luck - and a lot of creative reinterpretation of his confused orders - the troop is wildly successful in fending off the numerically superior enemy.

The scene should of course cut between what goes on in the real world and what goes on in the head of the commander.

Funny situations could include for example a conversation between two senior British officers that accompany the troop in an advisory function. "I say, it's not my habit to slight a fellow officer, but isn't the commander a tad... eccentric?" "I can't say I quite follow what he's doing, it's not exactly cricket... But the Germans have always been a bit unorthodox. I remember in the war, there was this Hunn who'd --- " And during the conversation you see the commander in the background, standing on top of the turret of an APC, holding an imaginary cylinder hat, dancing and kicking his legs in the air.

Another scene could show for example a squad of soldiers whose sergeant creatively interprets his dancing as signals on how to attack, and the squad manages to completely outmanoeuvre the enemy, knocking out a number of armoured vehicles all by themselves.

The finale should show the commander dancing across open ground while attack helicopters launch a rocket barrage straight across him, pummelling the enemy armour into oblivion, and all you hear is the music the commander is hallucinating.

Sweet Caroline, good times never felt so good!
I've been inclined to believe they never would!
