15th century wallet

So I finally got a hold of "Purses in Pieces"!
It's a fantastic book!

It contains a multitude og great pictures and descriptions og medieval pouches, bags, purses and other skuff.
So I decided to start making some of the items described in the book. I also thought that it would be a good idea to start with something small.

So i made this small 15th century wallet.
It was probably ment for carryind important papers and coins.

It is sewn in two pieces (the wallet and the edge-piece) and it measures 12 x 7 cm. It widens towards the bottom and is thus only 10 cm wide at the top.

The leather is goats skin. Both the edge and the wallet it self. The thread is waxed flax.

I'm sorry that I had to use modern coins for the picture, but i didn't have any 15th century money lying around :-)
