Something has finally crawled up my skin and pissed me off enough to give a good rant. Thats right the bastards of the world have reared their ugly heads again just to remind me of exactly how big of an asshole they can really be. The Banks.
Let us begin with processing a deposit. Now I understand that banks like to take your deposit and not make funds available to you until the following day, the reasoning is they want your money before you to put into whatever they may be investing in. But its still not thought out right. You can, and the amount varies from bank to bank, but you can make a deposit but if you leave for a soda and realize you needed more funds, you cannot go back and take money from the deposit. Now at the time you actually give them an envelope, you can take $100. Kewl. Five minutes later, not allowed. Now to tie into this holding of funds, if things clear the bank on the day you made the deposit you will be charged overdraft fees. You could have posted a 10,000 check.....*actually the larger the amount the longer it takes to clear* but the amount is not the point to them. So you make this deposit. Say you did not opt for the cash right away. You stop at the gas station for cigs, normally $4.00, now its gonna be a $37.00 pack of smokes. Decided to get that $.54 refill on your coffee at Starbucks, yeah now its going to be a $33.54 cup of coffee. And uh oh you were hungry and hit up a McDonald’s for three items on the dollar menu, yes you get it now $36.00 McDonald’s meal.
So now for your whopping daily expenditure of $7.54, now you have paid $106.54. How the fuck did that happen?!? Of course I get the math but that is just wrong. I mean honestly the guy who dropped ten grand in the slot does not have to worry about all this. But that guy who swings it pay check to paycheck, he is deep shit. And he is in deep shit because he cannot afford to have a eight dollar purchase be a hundred. I understand that banks make their money off of this but they are taking it from the people who most can’t afford it. Financially secure people do not have over draft fees, and good for them but it is not fair to the 7 dollar and hour guy. This is stealing. It is taking advantage of an almost forced situation. Yes you can live on cash. And it is sad to think that it feels more comfortable to go to a dirty Ace and let some goomba cash your check for you for a percent, well at least they are straight up about it and hell it always cost the same. You will constantly be reamed by the banks because of this, I cannot sit by and call an insane mark up from .54 cents and add an addition $33.00 for it.
The first response is to say well fuck you and your bank I will take my money else where. Which if you have a good portion there will get their attention and get results. But once again if the large portion of coin were there you would not be having this discussion with the bank manager in the first place. But you are and there is nothing to barter with. They simply tell you to eat a big piece of fuck off and pay it or leave and they hit your credit and ruin you for their other buddy banks. And this is just one of the many fuck you fees.
Bank Of America for example, will charge up to 10% of your payroll check if you do not have an account with them and your employer does. How in the hell is that fair? Oh fucking me for a bullshit processing fee for money that was payed to me by my employer, is really going to win me over to your bank buddy. Hell and I thought that Wells Fargo was the new Nazi head just because of the fact that there can be a line out the door for people there specifically to cash payroll checks, they all wait in a line for one window while the other tellers sit there. Thats right I said sit there waiting for a Wells Fargo member to come in. That won me over really well as well.
I could go on and on. Another bank wanted to charge you .25 for every check card transaction AND ATM uses. Now as I have said I get that they are there to make money. But they do through their loans and investments. There really needs to be more legal binding s to keep them from destroying people this way. My story was about a guy with coffee and cigarettes. The fact is that this happening to families and other people who are just struggling by trying to make a living and they are being robbed legally with no recourse.
