i may have broken a heart or two
believe me, not by intent.
my heart is still whole
for i never gave it away.
i love, but not so selflessly
i cannot give myself completely.

but who am i,
to sacrifice the happiness of another?
it is right that in my own life
i am the only one who truly matters.
but with that attitude, how can i
love another
like i
love myself?
