The Return

See you soon (okay... six to eight weeks)

A lot of people with my camera have had problems with the shutter spraying microscopic amounts of oil on the sensor; after a lot of pressure and a ton of bad PR [and a class action lawsuit], Nikon is finally offering a completely free program to replace the entire shutter housing mechanism. Even though I had a 'first batch' camera, I did not seem to have the shutter/oil problem; or at the very least, my regular wet cleanings of the sensor have avoided making the issue obvious.

Nonetheless, I've already put almost 30,000 iterations on a shutter designed for 150,000 shots. Sending my baby in today for the new shutter housing, I should get it back in 6-8 weeks I think. And it'll be just as good as new! If not better.

Boomer in 2002

I also found some old film negatives of Boomer back from Spring 2002.  Since I was home sick yesterday, thought I'd scan them in and make a little composite.

After a ten week hiatus, John and I are off to his cottage in central Wisconsin this weekend. I'm waiting for a couple of friends to finish up work, and they're going to join us for two fun filled days of... well, not much. Just hanging out, drinking beer, and eating steak.  There are worse fates!  John's already there, although with traffic and delays I suspect we won't be there until 11pm or later tonight.  It'll still be a good time.
