It was my birthday!

I'm trying to catch up on posts and such and make sure I don't let Livejournal go completely by the wayside.

One thing I didn't touch on in my last post about Lollapalooza was that it was my birthday last Wednesday. Happy 39th to me!

I have to say, the older I get, the more content I become.  I recently read an article that stated when one was young, happiness was more about excitement.  As one gets older, happiness becomes more about being content and having perspective.  For me, at least, that seems to be the case.

Not that I don't shake it up a little here and there.

Since my birthday fell on a Wednesday, I decided to throw a party the Sunday afternoon before that at my local Ghey hangout, Crew Sports Bar & Grill. Although a lot of my friends were out of town, there was still a pretty good turn out of about 25-30 people, I think. Following that there were more celebrations at my neighborhood bar, The Glenwood.  Sense a theme?

As you can see, I'm quite the lady killer.  I was so happy former co-workers Bethany and Annabelle could make it!
(I've also realized when I'm drunk and smiling widely you can see my gold tooth in back. YAY!)

Various folks and faces from Birthday and post-Birthday festivities that Sunday!
In particular I was very pleased I finished up all 75+ beers on my "Beer Passport" and became an official "beer god" that day.
Because I normally don't celebrate my birthday, it has been a little weird the last two years throwing parties.  Mostly, I've just come to accept that I know a lot of people, it is a nice reason to get my friends together, and I have a good time.  Through the first week of August various people kept taking me out to dinner, which was also nice.  Free meals = love.

On my birthday proper, John was in town so we grabbed dinner at Hubbard Inn with his cousin, Rick, who is also a friend of mine.  A great evening.

Hanging out with John and Rick for my birthday proper.

And yes, even though John and I broke up and he lives in Springfield I clearly see a lot of him. Not sure if a mending of the relationship is going to happen, but things between us remain pretty good. Which is all that I ask for at this point.

So the 39th Birthday Spectacular went pretty well.  Here's hoping my 40th is just as fun next year.

And finally, yes, my face is still bald.  I like being clean shaven, but man I'm lazy. I hate shaving.
