Writer's Block: Let's Be Friends

I really only have one ex. We tried. Much like our relationship, it was on again and off again until it was finally off forever.

But we had serious communication issues, so I suppose things were always uber-doomed.

Ashley is a totally different story...

I had a similar thing happen with me.

We were good friends, tried dating, didn't work out, and I wanted to stay friends. But we'd only have short spurts of hanging out.

Then I realized that she never really cared for our friendship.

That sucks. Truly. Maybe it's societal conditioning, but some people really are too polite for their own, or other peoples, good.

Yeah, I discovered she was really just a "flavor of the week" kind of girl. If you weren't her flavor, you had almost zero chance of getting ahold of her, contacting her, or even hanging out with her.

I guess that makes you special. But people like that end up getting treated the way they treat others.

Yeah, well, I was her flavor for awhile, but eventually I got sick of trying to track her down. She broke up with someone for spending all his time on World of Warcraft, but when I call her up and say, "Hey want to hang out" she would always say she just wanted to stay at home and play... World of Warcraft.

Then I'd find out that someone else came over to her apartment, and the two of them hung out for the evening.

... she didn't even have the common decency to make up a half-assed lie? Man, some people.

Here's the best one.

She was working late one night and was gonna miss dinner. I told her I'd bring her food (as I had done in the past). She told me it was okay and she would just get something afterward.

Around 10pm at night or so she hops online and I ask her how she's doing. She says she's "cold," and I ask why... "Oh, Nate picked me up after work and we had a picnic in the park. It was so sweet of him."

Consequently, that was the night we "called off" our dating relationship.

Ouch... some people just don't realize that they can set up a double standard...
