Friends For Life

Wow, I never thought this day would come. It feels like we just got to High School. Now, we've already graduated. I just never thought this day would come up so fast. Four years have come, and they've gone, like that. I just never thought I'd have to say goodbye, not now, not yet. There's still so much left to do. But, it's a part of life that everyone has to deal with. While all of this is sad. I mean all of us won't be together, in the Fall. We may never be. I'm actually kinda happy. I'm so happy that I got to meet you all. I'm happy that I got to know all of you. I'm happy I got to experience High School with you all. It's been fun. It feels like this all just started, yesterday.

It was 2001 when we all entered High School. That first day was definitely one of the craziest. We all woke up, a bit eager, a little nervous, but ready to start this new chapter in our lives. We got dropped off, only to be overwhelmed by all kinds of new faces. We entered, what seemed to be at the time, a large, three-story building, with lots and lots of classrooms. This is where we would spend the next four years of our lives. So, we get in, and try to find our friends, among the busy hallways. We compare schedules, with each other, to see which classes we'd have. Then, we try to find our way around the many hallways and corridors of the school. We'd ask teachers where our classes were. Then, we started the day. We soon found out that High School was different from Junior High. From the tests, to the rules, to the policies, we were in for a change. The first great thing about High School was the open lunch. Unfortunately, we were too young to reap in the benefits of this freedom.

That year, we made a lot of new friends. There were so many kids in that school, you were bound to find someone that interested you. For me, that was something that I had to get used to. I came to RHS from a Private school. Only two of my friends, from that school, came to RHS with me. So, I only knew two people, out of the 1300 other kids, that populated that school. It was overwhelming, and kinda scary, trying to talk to people you had never seen before. I didn't want to make a bad first impression. Ever since Elementary School, I had that reputation of being a smart and kind guy. I guess, that helped me out, in making friends. I quickly found out how many cool people, the same age as me, were in my classes. I met a lot of great people. Most of them, to this day, are still my friends.

2001 also marked a very tough and tragic year in the United States. On September 11, our country was brutally and maliciously attacked by a bunch of idiots and cowards, trying to send a message. I still remember Mrs. Loya making the announcement "for all Social Studies classes to turn on their TVs." Even though I wasn't in a Social Studies class at the time, Mr. Garden turned on the TV, anyways. The images were shocking and depressing. It was something you thought would never happen. But, you were watching it all unfold, right before your very eyes. That was the story for the rest of that day. You'd go to your classes, and that was what everyone was talking about, even the teachers. It was one day I will never forget.

After all of that, the rest of that year went pretty smoothly. We got to have fun in Gym Class. We made it through Land Weather and Astronomy. We got to make those cool weather videos. We got to go to our first High School dances. Before we knew it, we had survived, and completed, our first year of High School.

That Summer, a lot of us took Driver's Training. It was crazy. We were learning how to drive a car. It was a very exciting time. From being goofy in the parking lot, to actually being out on the road, it was a lot of fun. Yeah, there were those "Near Death" instances, every once in awhile. Someone would run a stop sign, or almost hit someone, or push the gas, instead of the brake. I had a good time, through it all. We got our Learner's Permits and we were officially drivers. Scary : p

Sophomore Year was a pretty good year. We had, for the most part, learned our way around the school. We knew who a lot of the teachers were. Things were going good. For Homecoming, the class built a float, with Harry Potter as the theme of it. It was around that time that I got the nickname Harry Potter. Somehow, I looked like him. So, I ended up walking in the parade, dressed up like the wizard, himself. I had a lot of fun, with that. The float ended up winning the contest. That year, we got to take Biology. It was our first class with Mr. Wehner. He had a passion for teaching. He would come up to your desk and ask you a question. Sometimes, he would even shake your desk. Those were some good times. For me, that year was the hardest year of High School. It was tough for me, emotionally. A lot of crazy things happened. But, in the end, I made some more friends. Before we knew it, we were half-way through High School. Time was flying by, fast.

Junior Year was an interesting one. We were finally Upper-Classmen. We had cool, new privelages. We got to take Chemistry and have a lot of fun with Mr. Graham. The demos he would do were really cool. I remember how he wore sunglasses because his eye was infected, and some people wore sunglasses in his class, to support him. Good times. That year, the class built a Spiderman float for Homecoming. It was a lot of fun building it. It looked so cool, and it could shoot out the web. Unfortunately, we ended up losing to, I think, the Sophomore Class. Crazy stuff. For the most part, that year went pretty good. Towards the end of the year, we did have that bad storm, while we were in school. So, we all had to go and sit in the hall. I still remember Mrs. Reynolds frantically running up and down the hall, talking to us, about the weather. Then, there were kids that would try to leave. But, the teachers wouldn't let them. Crazy stuff. That year, I was involved in a serious car accident. My car was totaled. It was a scary time in my life. I've been a different person, ever since that day. When that year ended, we all knew that we only had one more year, together. So, we wanted to make our Senior Year memorable.

Senior Year was a memorable year. We finally owned Senior Hallway (well, at least a lot of us did), something we had looked forward to since Freshman Year. When you're a Senior, there are so many things to look forward to. From the extra privelages, to the reputation, to the slacking, it was an exciting time, for all of us. A lot of us took Fisix. That was a fun class. Mrs. E was such a nice teacher. Okay, so the online homework was a bit complicated, at times. But, it was a good class. Too bad we didn't get to go to Cedar Point, though. A lot of us also took Kalkulus. That was a crazy class. There were too many things to remember. But, we survived that. If we can get through Kalkulus, we can get through anything. Classes were more fun because the teachers knew we were Seniors. They knew that, sooner or later, we would all come down with Senioritus. So, we got to do more fun things and we got away with more things.

That year, the Varsity Basketball Team had an excellent season. The fan support was so awesome. It was so much fun.

The highlight of the year was definitely Prom. It was something every Senior looked forward to. Prom was a lot of fun. I'm glad that a lot of people came out. It all flew by so fast. Time flies when you are having fun. It was a magical night. It was one of our last harrahs, as a class. We knew, I mean we may have not wanted to admit it, but it was almost the end of the year. The days we had, together, were numbered. The last month of our Senior Year went pretty fast. We had to get ready for the last Finals of our High School career. We took them and got them over with. We were done with High School. For me, that took awhile to finally sink in.

When the day of Commencements finally came, it was bittersweet, in a way. I mean, we were finally graduating from High School. We worked our butts off for 4 years. All of that hard work and dedication finally paid off. It was exciting. But, I mean, we were graduating from High School. We are now one step closer to adulthood. We are one step closer to the real world. It's a bit overwhelming. We're growing up so fast.

Summer Vacation came and we got ready for, what would be, our last period, together, as a group. So far, this Summer has gone pretty good. I got a new pool, at my house, and I love it. I hope everyone else's Summer has gone well. I've missed all of you, a lot. This Summer has flown by, fast. It's almost over.

Now, it's Late August. School will be starting up, again, in a few weeks. Pretty soon, a lot of you will be leaving the 'Dotte for College. You are leaving to study abroad, and live on you own, for a little while. It's weird, it feels like we just met each other, yesterday. Now, we're parting ways. We are getting ready to, once again, start a new chapter in our lives. We're getting ready to go to a new place, to see new things, and meet new people. If life was perfect, we would always be together. We would never leave each other's side. But, this is reality. College is a part of everyone's life. Without a College Education, your future life opportunities will be very limited. So, it only makes sense to go. I just can't believe that this day is here. It feels like we should have more time, together. But, that's something that just can't happen.

I am going to miss all of you, so much. It just won't be the same, without you. But, I will keep the memories. I will always remember and treasure the time we have spent together, both in and out of school. I will remember the good days, and the bad days. I will remember the ups, and the downs. I will always remember all the fun we have had, together. I've really enjoyed my four years of High School, with all of you. Where would I be without you all?

To all of you that are staying around here, I hope to see you in the coming months. Maybe, we'll hang out, sometime. I'm glad that some of my friends are still staying down here. See you in the Fall.

To all of you that are leaving for College (to everyone, actually), I wish you the very best of luck. I know you will succeed in whatever you go into. Good Luck in all of your future endeavors. Party hard, but party safe. All of you are such great people. I love you all. I hope we all stay in touch. I hope that we meet again, someday. Hopefully, this isn't goodbye, for good. It's more like, see you on the flip side. Friends forever.

Class of 2005. We came. We saw. We conquered. We rocked.

"Here's to the next step."

"It’s something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life"

Later Days
