"Our geeks beat most of world's geeks in competition"

So, the other day, Jake Vest from Orlando Sentinel camed out and interviewed our team for the column. He told us a few really cool ideas he had for next year... because he fell in love with the team.

The article is in today's paper, and it's friggin great. You can see it online at http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orl-locjake0706jun07,0,4111531.column?page=1 if you'd like to (and considering most people that would be interested in that live halfway across the country lol).

The funny part is, he talks about how we were all joking around with him for hours on end (which is totally true) on Sunday, but after he left we all hung out there playing poker and watching tv for another 6 or 7 hours (until 1 or 2am, we got there at noon.... lol). I think that's a decent way to explain how our team's a family. I don't think we're ever apart for more than a day or 2 at the very most (even though the season is over). We bowl every Monday night, we usually go out for a movie on the weekend, and in between we all just randomly meet up here and there. I don't know, that article made me happy, I mean... the conversations we had on Sunday with him were obviously just the understandable funny stories, but it was pretty cool that this journalist who really didn't know much at all about what we were doing got overwhelmed with it and is doing what he can to help us out. I still can't get over how cool it is how fast "Oink! Oink! BOOM!" spread like wildfire, everybody (both FIRSTers and non) die laughing when they hear it and fall in love with it. I'm glad I can say that's my baby, that may be the only thing I really contributed this year, but it's probably what everybody will always know us by... and as long as I've got some cough drops, I'll be there chanting it.

Considering last night I spent 8 hours only to have Microsoft screw up and destroy my backups when it crashed... to starting all over again and getting it all mostly redone in about 2.5 hours (with some patch work still needed), to reading that... I'm definitly ready to head down South for Mission Mayhem. This weekend is going to be an absolute blast. You have no idea. I'm gonna be setting up a webfeed as well, so feel free to tune in (I'll post the stream url on Friday)
