Ozzfest 2005 Recap

Aug 14, 2005 01:17

So today August 13...well its the 14th now....I went to Ozzfest 2005. it was my second straight one in a row but this time I was expecting so much more and thats what happened. I went with my friend Edgar as he picked up around 8 am. We got to the Shoreline around 8:30 and waited in line etc...So we walked around a bit and then went to the 2nd stage to check out the music...

It Dies Today - Didn't show up (more to come later)

Arch Enemy (opener) - I was quite impressed. The singer was very attractive and had a monsterous voice. Reminded me somewhat of Otep

Trivium - I had high expectectations for Trivium and they blew me away... They have strong stage prescence and amazing pure talent. They remind me of Funeral For a Friend meets beloved. Defiently look out for these guys in the future. I know Edgar has seen them a few times already...

The Black Dahlia Murder - Started their set. I wasn't impressed. Their music just wansn't up to par
It Dies Today - So they finally showed up and stole 10 minutes of BDM's set. They were really good and I am a fan now.

The Haunted - Very good band. Lots of energy.

Wicked Wisdom - probalby the worst band on Ozzfest2005. Their lead singer is Jada Pinkett Smith...the actress. She has weak stage prescence and bad vocals. On the positive note..Will Smith(the actor) made a special guest apprearance during his wife's set. Good to see hes still around.

Bury Your Dead - After arriving late. They came on and were a fun band to watch. They remind me of Lamb of God... which is one of my favorites.

Gizmachi - They have talent but they made me tired.

Soilwork - Straight outta Sweden. This is what modern metal should sound like. Very polished and just straight up. One of my favorites from the show.

A Dozen Furies - Battle for Ozzfest winners...They had lots of energy and good breakdowns. I was impressed with their performance and now i'm a fan.

Mastodon - Good band but somewhat generic sound...not much to say

As I Lay Dying - Probably the best band on the 2nd stage. Lots of crazy breakdowns and awesome lyrics/riffs. I'm biased towards them though....cause they just rock.

Killswitch Engage - So I was expecting alot from them and they delivered. Howard Jones is just a powerhouse with his vocals. They also were quite amusing.

Rob Zombie - I'm not a huge Zombie fan but he did alrite.

So during Zombies performance i walked around a bit to get stuffffff

MAIN STAGE

In Flames - One of my favorite bands... they did very well but didn't have many people watch them from stage transfer traffic. Now that i've seen them i'm happy. I've been waiting for a few years.

Black Label Society - I'd hate to say it but I kinda fell asleep during their set from being tired. They were ok though from what I was awake...I already saw them last year so I knew what to expect

Shadows Fall - This is what heavy metals about...I recommend you check them out if you havn't yet. I've been a fan for quite some time now and they don't disappoint

Mudvayne - It's Mudvayne.... nothing else to say. Just excellent!!!

Iron Maiden - One of my alltime favorite bands and probably the best band of the night. Bruce was entertaining and their "show" was enjoyable to watch. 666 bitch.

Sabbath - They were enjoyable this year and also pretty good. Last year they weren't that great but I had fun this time.

So when it was all over..I went home and got locked out of my house and chilled for a bit until my parents came home. Thats the end of my Ozzfest adventure. I didn't kill anyone today.
