valentines day at suncoast sucks

so today was incredible busy and we were sold out of everything. all day the conversations went:

customer: wheres the notebook/sharktales/ray/fullhouse?
employee: were sold out, u had to order it beforehand
customer: where can i get it at?
employee: no idea u prolly wont find it [smirk]

this one black dude came up and wanted to return a broken vhs thats 10 bucks. couldnt find anyone who has one so said we have to order it. he refused and wanted cash back and gave me this crap how hes a lawyer and this and that. and i showed him on the receipt where it must be exchanged for the same item yadda yadda and he was convinced its bs policy. i tried to explain every retail store that sells any kind of digital media operates the same way to prevent loss. i explained to him that im just a part time floor manager and that i dont make the rules here i just enforce them and that id be fired for taking the return. he still didnt understand why he couldnt get cash back but somewhat respected the fact that it isnt my call so i gave him the store number and the corp number and he said he understands and will talk to them.

few minutes later i see a black woman coming in with the tape and she screams to me at the counter "youll be giving me back our money now thank you." apparently he stuck his fat black loud annoying bitch of a wife on me to try to get the refund. i attempted to explain the policy to her and she wouldnt listen to me at all. she kept literally screaming, because everyone in the store turned around when she raised her voice, that she wont leave till she gets her refund. i have never seen someone make such a huge case of this before. i tried to explain to her policy and said id make the exception to exchange it but she would not let me get more than five words out before she started screaming. paul was looking like he was gona call security but i think she wouldnt have tried to kick their asses if he did. i was honestly ready to call them and the cops cuz she started making threats. i kept telling her that she needs to stop yelling because shes acting immature and that her yelling isnt making me want to take this return any more. when i was looking for something to make a call about the problem she pulled the racist card on me saying if she was from european decent she wouldnt have this problem. i called jim and told him briefly in the back the situation and said im either a. giving her the 11 bucks back or b. calling security/police. he said give her the refund and tell her shes never allowed in the store again. so i did that and she said something like the least i should get is my money after you embarassed me in front of these people in the store. and i said to her look excuse me but i was being calm and trying to have a conversation to come to a solution here and honestly by yelling like u were u did nothing but embarass yourself. so she made a remark again and i said not to come back in the store again and they left. everyone gave me a lot of credit for not killing her.
