Who Watches The Watchmen? Well, I did!
I loved it. I cannot beleive the amount of detail Zack Snyder crammed into this movie from the comic book. The costumes, acting, action, everything was amazing. Jeffey Dean Morgan WAS the Comedian...and Rorshach? Wow. I absolutely loved it. Is it better than the comic? I hate comparing books to movies, as they tend to be in categories of their own, but this was a very good representation of the comic. The ending was changed from the comic, and it works for the movie. The comic though, still stands up as a great book all its own, movie or no. The movie is a great companion to the book.
Now, my wife? Not that happy. She thought it was a so-so movie, but that it ran waaaaay too long. Just when she thought it was going to end (not knowing anything about the comic) the movie continued on. I heard this from a few people walking out of the theatre. She was expecting a more 'traditional' superhero flick, and ended up getting a cerebral movie as much as an action one.
Still, its the best movie I've seen since 'The Dark Knight'. I wouldn't be surprised if Watchmen ended up as an Oscar nomination in some kind of category. At least for special effects or best film....but then, I'm biased.
