At least the co-pays aren't too bad

It rolled around again - once a year. I had my eye doctor appointment to see if there's any diabetic damage to the blood vessels in my eyes. I hate going. I have a problem with eye things. In past appointments I've almost barfed. Other times I've passed out. I don't know why. So this time around I made it past the numbing eye drops, the dialating eye drops, and the initial exam. Then finally, the worst few seconds of the whole year: when the doctor has to actually bump the front of my eyes with a little pen-like tool. I thought of song lyrics from albums with no hits. I silently mouthed obscure passages about candles and branches from Zechariah. Anything to get through it. Be somewhere else. My fingers went numb.. The room got cold.. and it was over. Another yearly checkup in the can with no barfing and no passing out - YAY! I'm the man!

The fam had another appointment this week. Josiah had to have his first filling at the dentist office. We tried to prepare him as best we could about the happy gas, the cotton with medicine that would go in his mouth, etc. Didn't go well. I'll spare you the details and just say that Josiah has another appointment with the dentist in March - this time he will have to fast the night before, because he will be fully sedated.

I wonder why my eye doctor can't do that. Actually though, I don't think I could handle the I.V. too well.
