....especially those located in Spokane. if you dig the film arts or edgy, provocative art in general you should definitely check out the FLICKER FILM FESTIVAL at the CenterStage this Sunday. There are 15 short films, each originating on either super 8 or 16 mm and each clocking in at under 15 minutes (some are only a minute or two). It's only five bucks and there are two showings (one at 2pm and one at 6pm) so you don't have much of an excuse to miss it. i've seen some of the films they will be showing this year and lemme tell ya, for the most part, they're amazing. especially those by an NYC artist named Martha Colburn (www.marthacolburn.com). She does this incredible 2D animation with found images, paint and who knows what else. the soundtracks are done by underground artists like Jad Fair. mesmerizing. sure, there are a couple of dogs and at least one ("Funny Farm Summit Meeting") that i guarantee will drive you bats. but that's all part of the fun of it. ALSO, there will be a trailer for the film I was involved in this summer, "Jack the Vomiter." coming soon to a theater or bar or brick wall near you.
i think Miss M. and I will be going to the 6 pm showing.
we hope to see you there.
