Choke
Another boring week of work has come and gone. The biggest thing was finding a full mickey sized bottle of whisky in the ladies washroom. Sadly it had already been open so it wasn't a viable take home. Sad indeed.
Sunday I bought Choke by Chuck Palahniuk cause I was bookless and I like to read at work on my breaks. Chuck always has very interesting characters, and such great visuals. The man is amazing. Well I started reading it on Monday or Tuesday (The days blend together so thoroughly I am seriously unsure) and I finished it last night on the way home from work. Very well written and very odd book. I'm glad I randomly decided to pick up Invisible Monsters when I did cause I love this guy. I just saw that he had written Fight Club so I figured he was, you know, great. I was proven right and now I have like 4 more of his books to buy. The man has a way of blending the horrific with the hilarious, the disturbed with the delightful, I love it!
I think this is a rather extreme example but it gets my point across: Guts By Chuck Palahniuk
.. a very interesting and rather disturbing short story. It isn't a true showcase of his writing but it is a good read if you aren't squeemish.
Oh I am going to go buy a Nintendo DS today. I can get a Red/White DS w/ Mario Kart DS (WOWWY WOW WOW WOW) and Animal Crossing (hello addiction!) for 179.99. The DS alone is 159.99. So $20 for two game that would be $90 in total is pretty darned good. Plus it is a damn pimp looking DS.
IGN Gives Mario Kart DS a 9.5, and the original Animal Crossing was, for a month, my visual heroin. This should hurt the old wallet but I 'll still have more than enough for Christmas.
