I've really been very anti social as of late. I have too many little stresses that matter to no one but me. they drive me nuts and it makes me testy and easily frusterated with people. that being said people also seem to have been trying very hard to make my life hard. I never feel like im in control of my own life. people just seem to come and go ( Read more... )

I guess I'm not that offended by your post because I remember what it's like to be young, confused and frustrated. I have occasionally felt "left out" from reading LJ, just because somewhere, someone else is always going to be having fun without you. However, you can be somewhat manic at times.... when you're in a good mood, things totally rock, and when you're in a bad mood, everything sucks. It's just a way to start a conversation. Mostly aimed at... well... seeing how things are. I use it usually to poke you and see how you are. All because I like you and miss talking to you. I'll try to get more to the point in the future.

I say it because

A: I like to know the mood of the person I am about to start a conversation with (its not really easy to judge over an icon)
B: Because I genuinely care.

I agree. I guess some people don't feel that way though... *shrugs*

Again, as I said... it isn't the people who use it and actually mean it that have wrecked it, it's the other 80% of the population. I can't tell you how many times "Hello. How are you?" has been the beginning, middle and end of the conversation with people because they really didn't have a thing to say, and it's always driven me crazy.

I just want to have a real, meaningful conversation with people without resorting to standardization and overused cliche phrases. It's hard to know when it's being used in earnest and when it's just conversation filler.
