Why can't high schools have basic financial courses....they don't even teach how to handle a checkbook.

In the early 1970s in 7th grade we were required (I think) in the Seattle Schools District to take a class called "Business Principals". We learned how to write checks, even two party checks, about interested and compound interest. Also, we learned about comparative shopping, to ignore such things a "king size" or "jumbo" and do the price per ounce or pound compare. It was a fun class. Of course my parents grew up during the depression and thus I learned a lot from them. Dad loved to go to garage sales, all the thrift stores, auction houses and swap meats in and around Seattle. I didn't know how to buy a house, so in 1999 I bought a copy of "House Buying For Dummies"....I don't know if it's been updated for the current evil and manufacture (by F**king greedy mutants), but even if is not, that book, or some think like it, SHOULD be required reading by all people who want to buy a house

I've pretty much given up entirely on Credit Cards in general. But yes, this is exceptional suck. I can see some random comic strip about some wanna-be gal strolling up.
