I don't know if other high schools have this but for my old high school, the seniors get to go on this life skills retreat in malibu for 4 days and to experience something they will remember for the rest of their lifes. At the retreat, teachers and graduated seniors from the past share amazing stories about their life in college and in the real world. The students also got letters from their family and friends about how much they mean to them, finally the students form many new friendships, share their own unique stories with people that they probably never get to know (nerds and jocks, populars and outcasts, etc). My lil brother went and yesterday evening when they came back; all the families, other high school kids suprised them at the performance art building with ballons, flowers, standing ovations, pretty touching stuff. The tear jerker part was when each kid goes up to the front, gives a short speech on how much love and appreciation they have for their family and friends then goes into the stands and hug them. Kids were crying, parents were crying, hugs, laughs, cheers. I gave my bro a huge hug and my mom was crying ofcourse along with my brothers friends parents. A lot of people from my class have brothers and sisters in this senior class, I congrulated them as well. I told Matt Millsfield, "Tell your bro to fly his ass back right now for the superbowl party at Nikhil's tomorrow." Mike Stewart (Jenny's bro) said "I remember when I was little I went to your house and your mom always make tang. She goes 'You guys want some tang?'" Lol, I was cracking up. The only embarrassing part for me was probably when I was sitting in the students section holding my brother's ballons and my mom was like "You look cute, let me take a picture." *Everyone looked* Me - "Mom, stop, I don't wanna take a picture right now. Because I don't want to. Stop! No, seriously, stop. Omg, so embarrassing." Damn asian parents.
