i understand what you're saying, i just don't agree with your point of view. all im saying is that we're a country that celebrates christmas. yes we welcome in other religions other than christianity. they are welcome here. they are free to celebrate whatever holiday they want to. there are no restrictions on that. but we should still be able to celebrate our original holiday and maintain our cultural identity. face it...christmas is not about christianity anymore. im not christian and i celebrate christmas. its just become a national holiday in canada. we should be able allowed to celebrate it. if we keep restricting our celebrations, christmas will soon be out of the vocabulary.

i dont think that if someone was to say merry christmas to someone who didn't celebrate christmas, a huge uproar would occur. if that person doesn't celebrate christmas, then they are not obligated to say anything back. but because this is canada where we allow people to celebrate what they want, we shouldn't go about saying "ok now we need to restrict these people from going out and spreading their christmas joy." its not like we're condemning people who are not celebrating christmas. we're just as respectful to them as we are to those that do celebrate christmas.

i think we're just going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

How can you say that saying Merry Christmas is "politcally correct" and then say that we're just as respectful to them as we are to those that do celebrate Christmas? That's quite the paradox--being politcally correct means not being exclusive, right? I'd say that's still fairly exclusive, whether you have religious beliefs behind it or not. I don't care that you say Merry Christmas, its the fact that you deemed it politically correct to do so that irked me.

sorry maybe i used the wrong terminology. i didn't mean politically correct as in it's the only holiday we should be celebrating. i just meant i shouldn't receive this huge backlash of comments from people who are offended that i said merry christmas because its what i celebrate.
