And another thing, I'm freaking sick of people posting videos to scans_daily. I mean, the community was founded for homoerotic crap, then it started to open up to comic art in general, but now it's become this big garbage dump where members just post whatever useless shit they have on hand. Jeeze, you make it sound like slashers go to every community and make sure to only post slash. You don't like slash, seriously, don't go to scans_daily. And I seriously don't see that much YouTube.

In other news, I suggest a thunderbolts_daily community. I'd contribute until I broke my mouse finger.

Who knows? *shrug* Honestly, I don't pay that much attention, because if seeing "gaymosexual" stuff every day is that intolerable, it sounds like a personal problem to me.

You're saying this like I think it's a conspiracy against me, and that's not it. What I'm trying to say is that I joined the community because I like seeing random comic book art on my friendslist. 80% of thet time, SD satisfies this, but the rest of the time, I end up with a bunch of bullcrap like the stuff listed above, because the community doesn't share my priorities.

This isn't about slash. This is about the slash mentality, where everything must be slash, even if it isn't. I could draw a pair of stick figures on a paper towel with rat excrement, and as long as they looked vaguely like they were two men in a sexually suggestive situation, no one on scans_daily would object. After all, I can call it a webcomic, and that's legal, right? Meanwhile, someone's sitting on a run of Neal Adams X-Men comics, and they never think to post scans of it because they're not gay ( ... )

I THINK I understand your intolerance for the rampant slash mentality, but again, that's exactly what the community started out for. To expect it to cater to anything else is unfair. It does post nonslash, of course, but if the amounts aren't enough for you, sorry, but too bad. Even when I was still religiously against homosexual behavior I never got that exasperated--the little blurb TOLD me what the site was founded on, and really, who cares if they make a lot of sexual jokes about two men? It's funny. Men have been allowed to have their "two girls doing it" fantasies for years, and now it's like suddenly slash isn't cool because the fangirls get to join in the fun and ewwwwwww, two men are kissing, blech! It's a little unfair how tolerated lesbians are but male slash is curiously the most attacked.

I think part of the problem the comm has is that it, to the uninitiated, it looks like a general-purpose comics scans comm that's merely been overrun by slash humor, so some feel it ought be, regardless of how it was started. At any rate, there's clearly some people who like what s_d is not and simply don't have the gumption to start that themselves.

Fair enough. But that brings us back to the community itself. I really think if scans_daily is that annoying, you should just look for a new community. It'd be like me going the robin_daily community and complaining that there isn't enough of Batman in the scans posted there. The comm SAYS that if you're going to complain about the homoeroticism, the comm might not be for you, so that should give you a tip that said homoeroticsm will be prevalent if they bother putting it up.

In the end, a joke is a joke to me, and the slash for the most part doesn't get on my nerves enough to complain about it. I just enjoy reading the jokes (slash or not) and reading up on comics.

Oh certainly. This is why I don't read it and I don't know why Mike does--judging from his friendslist every third post is s_d, and I don't know how he stands it.

I'm not making a big deal out of it. They're funny every once in a while, but not all the time and not the way they're told on s_d, so I just don't read it. I only elaborate on this when somebody brings it up and somebody from s_d inevitably acts like I hate freedom or something.

I should also note that I can't win with you on this, because you're all "If you don't like it don't read it!" but then as soon as I say that's what I'm doing you think I'm being unreasonable for it. You can't have it both ways.

More like horribly obnoxious. I say this as a slasher, by the by.

Inferring uncomfortableness with homosexuality just because someone doesn't like S_D is disingenuous, to say the least.

You can be a Batman/Robin or whatever fan and still hate all the 'raped in the ass', 'rent boy', 'they're sharing a panel, so they must be gay' "jokes".

There's such a thing as too much.

See, you're not understanding my beef. If the comm were just a bunch of slashers indulging their fantasies, I wouldn't care. Again, I have no problem with a bunch of Green Arrow scans that imply that he might wanna nail some dude. Fine, whatever.

But it goes too far, to the point where you can post a YouTube video, or a bunch of lame photomanips, or really anything, as long as it fits the slash mentality. You can't point to the slash foundation of scans_daily to justify that, because SD is merely one of many LJ communities for daily slash material. SD is the one dedicated to comic book art, and therefore should only be dedicated to comic book art. Again, I could draw on a napkin with rat droppings, and as long as I call it a webcomic, I can post it to scans_daily. And as long as I tell people it has some sort of pro-slash meaning, everyone will ( ... )
