So, I've made a dent in
the list of games I'd like acquire. Hellas: Worlds of Sun and Stone is cool and I'm running that at the EndGame Minicon. I'll be running an adventure I didn't write myself so I need to start reading over that soon. It was written for GenCon and a 6-8 hour slot but the minicon is only 4 hours, so I'll need to edit it some. No big deal.
I grabbed Apocalypse World about two weeks ago and holy shit does that look hot as a pile of U238. I'd hoped to join a game of it at the minicon but, no surprise, all the seats were full before I could get in there. Everything I here about it is good, all the APs I read are insane, and the game itself is amazing. Like Dogs in the Vinyard (also by Vincent Baker) it's making me look at games differently again. It won't be a financial hit, but it's easily the best design of the 2010, IMO.
And I picked up Deathwatch last Saturday. Very nice. I liked what I saw in the Free RPG Day adventure FFG gave out, and I was not disappointed by the full version. There's a lot of cool gaming in here, and room for lots of styles and approaches. When that big 40K campaign I'm cooking up gets rolling, Deathwatch is going to be a major part of it - the capstone in fact, if things go the way I'm thinking right now.
Hmm, what have I spent so far? $46.90 for Hellas. $27.46 for Apocalypse World. $65.34 for Deathwatch. $139.70 total.
Next month I want to pick up Remember Tomorrow (which is only 10 bucks I think) and Wild Talents.
