Running outside on the sidewalks around Lake Calhoun is much tougher than on a treadmill. There are parts of my body that hurt that I don't get from running on a treadmill indoors. These are mostly a good hurt at this point.
Expectations are very important. It's important that they be realistic. One can hope for things all they want but that doesn't mean that they should expect them all to be fulfilled. This has been an important recognition of mine during the past week or so. If you're expectations aren't realistic, then you can't really beat anyone up except for yourself when they aren't met.
Which is different, but somewhat related, to having your needs met. Expressing what your needs are is important in being able to set expectations appropriately. Knowing the constraints with which you must work with to get your needs met is also very important.
Bottom line...don't set yourself up for failure. It's not a good path to be on.
