today musical notes

I'm a big fan of Sophie Ellis-Bextor. have been since I found out who she was as the vocalist for Spiller on Groovejet. Murder on the Dancefloor is one of my favorite "top 40" house tracks - it's not obscure but it's just a fun song. anyway, recently I thought to check on Youtube to see if the video is available. it is, and it's actually a great music video. you should watch it.

additionally, we all know the Avenue D track Do I Look Like a Slut? but check out this amateur music video these two crazy bitches from Cali did. I want to have that redhead's babies, although I will need to see proof of legal age first. Her profiles says she's 18 so I'm going to go with that, cuz that works for me.

so you know the band Pretty Girls Make Graves? you don't? well I know of them - they exist, trust me. I think I may have seen them live - I kind of forget. anyway, I just noticed today that that's also the name of a song by The Smiths. one would imagine the band is named after the song. I consider myself to be a fan of The Smiths, but not obsessively so. still I'm surprised I had no idea that this song existed. it's a actually good track - I wasn't disappointed. unlike the time when I first sought out the Leonard Cohen song The Sisters of Mercy. why Andrew Eldritch would name his band after that song is a mystery to me (editor's note: yes I realize the origin of the band's name is a matter of some debate, and it may not be named after the Cohen song).
