I know the CSR has happened, we know it will get worse before getting a little better in time for the next General Election (I can't imagine things won't be made slightly better then, showing us the pain was worth it).
I know the Big Society means charities will do more. However I foresee larger charities acting corporately with the capacity to take contracts and services, meaning smaller charities will have to merge or scale back to volunteers only. The smaller charities will find this a more difficult time.
I believe the small middle size charities that fulfilled local needs are going to be under increasing pressure and as the work they do is preventative we will miss them more when they are gone than note there passing at the time.
I hope I am wrong...I fear I am right...
Who can disagree with the rhetoric of the Big Society, local people get more involved and get more done...
I fear the Big Society may enable neofeudalism (those who can afford to get involved do so - paternalistic or worse) but I hope it allows subsidiarity and more people share the load and take collective responsibility to make communities better, time will tell and in reality I think in different places different variations will appear...
