I have been shortlisted for the job with the Alzheimer's Society, If anyone has some pointers on managing branches for the society or on Dementia specifically Alziehemers I am happy to have your two penneth worth!
This is not till first week in April...Until then i have 2 weeks annual leave and will mostly be in France (via Mr Ryan's plane) so ability to respond is going to be somewhat limited for a week.
Just thinking of the devastation the loss of a child has on a family...or the loss on a family when an adult has onset dementia and in a sense dies to them slowly...with personality change and confusion, like Jack Wooly off the Archers...I think that Carers are so under rated asdn do such a job that these are a group that could do with more support as they try to support those suffering from dementia etc. I know the medication can slow things down but you don't elapse which is the problem it will be a downwards spiral...
My Nan before she died suffered with dementia and recently on the news two people were murdered in Southampton. One of those murdered was a carer of my Nan and it brings things back, what a tragic loss and waste...
...I also saw the interview on TV today with Norman Kembar and his wife Pat and he was speaking of his guilt and mixed motives and the irony of a peace activist like himself being rescued by the SAS. I congratulate the armed services for saving this man who I do respect for his candour. The proverb 'all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing' motivates me to not sit back but to get involved and make a real difference to empower and enable so that in those lives I can affect good may be accomplishes and the bad mitigated...I was recently debating the problem of evil, with people. The problem of good is the one I see as the real problem to satisfactorily explain. The reductionist ideology that says people act out of self interest (the selfish gene etc) shows that selfishness is normal. To explain altruism, platonic love etc is nigh on impossible as to my mind it would take a miracle to break out of self interest especially if we didn't have the capacity to think and be self aware, to choose...
With free choice comes the payment of the price for those who choose self interest and care not who pays the price, I am thinking of Dafour, Zimbabwe and to a lesser extent the UK.
Whether we get after May either Cameron or Brown I am not convinced that much change will occur...
Here are the thoughts that I have been thinking about....Please feel free to respond if you want to...
