This had been a long week for Jonghyun. He had just broken up with his long time girlfriend Shin Se Kyung and it was not pretty. He had truly loved the girl and thought she had also loved him. But it turned out that she was using his fame to boost her already profitable career and had no intention to marry him. She told him all of this while he was on one knee, proposing to her. Jonghyun was now highly irritable.
The other members of SHINee tried to stay out of his way to avoid his wrath. He could snap at anytime at any place. Knowing this, their manager made sure that no reporters or MCs said anything about the relationship. The rest of SHINee did their part by not mentioning anything about girls and love, anything that would remind him of Se Kyung. But during this week of pain and misery for Jonghyun someone had forgotten about the whole ordeal. That someone was Onew.
Jonghyun walked through the door to the SHINee dorm after finishing his schedule quietly crooning underneath his breath lyrics from their song Lucifer. He felt that his solo in the beginning of the song fit his current situation perfectly.
"If it was love, if you really loved me, don’t do this to me
Her whisper is the Lucifer"
His voice echoed throughout the empty hallways of the dorm. It was late at night and Jonghyun assumed that his band mates were already in bed, resting up for the the next day of work. His assumption was clearly wrong when he stepped into the kitchen looking for a late night snack. Onew was sitting at the dinning table with a plate of chicken. It's a wonder that he isn't fat, thought Jonghyun. But then Onew said something that would change both his and Jonghyun's life forever.
"I love you so much chicken." He took a bite, chewed, then swallowed. "This love isn't fake. I know you'll always be there for me just like how I'm always here for you. I don't need anybody but you chicken." Onew laughed at what he had just said and took another bite.
Memories raced through out Jonghyun's head. Memories of his beloved and what he had said to her in only a week ago. Memories of his rejected proposal.
He thought that he had already blocked her from his memory during his moments of pain.
I love you so much __ _____.
He dropped his bag on the floor but the sound of the bag hitting the floor did not echo. He took careful steps towards his hyung who hadn't noticed him yet.
I know you'll always be there for me just like how I'm always here for you.
Onew looked up from his meal only to see an angered Jonghyun. He hadn't heard him come back home and stood up to greet him but he felt that something was wrong. Something was extremely wrong.
I don't need anybody but you ____ __ _____.
Jonghyun could feel the pain in his heart. The pain of being betrayed so easily by the woman he loved. His emotional pain welled up and became physical pain causing him to clutch his chest. The fabric of his shirt stretched under the tension of his strong grip.
“Oh hey there Jonghyun-ah-” Onew gave a short wave to Jonghyun welcoming him back home before he was quickly interupted. The mood turned sour.
“Why did you have to say that?” He let go of his shirt and crossed his arms across his chest defensively. Onew felt like he couldn't escape this conversation.
“Oh, you heard me?” He tilted his face downwards in embarrassment of his chicken confession but was cut off by a harsh Jonghyun.
“I don't care, just answer the question.” Despite his short hight the singer seemed of tower over Onew with his presence. He took a step closer to Onew and repeated his question. “Why did you have to say that?”
“Because I love chicken?” Onew looked in to the other male's eyes curiously. He genuinely forgot about what transpired at the restaurant because he was not paying attention. Rather, he did not want to pay attention to anything that had to do with Shin Se Kyung. He hated the woman for what she had done to him. "Is that the answer you want?"
"Lee Jinki," Onew was surprised at the usage of his real name. He now knew that Jonghyun was serious. He was not joking around. "Stop lying to me. You'll never have to experience the pain I'm going through right now."
Jonghyun snapped.
"Perhaps I should give you a little taste of it!" Jonghyun was now yelling. His eyes were wide with rage. He grabbed a greasy frying pan off of the stove. Onew was hit in the chest with it. A crack was heard. A scream was let out. Onew's knees collapsed. He fell to the ground.
"Those were the same exact words I said to that woman when I proposed to her."Jonghyun swung the pan again. Laughter escaped his lips. The rim hit Onew's rib cage. Another scream was let out. Crack, crack. The frying pan was now stained red.
"But Jonghyun..." Jonghyun had hit Onew in the head with the bloody frying pan and now his vision was starting to fade. Starting from the corners of his eyes, everything was becoming black. The blood from his head gushed out of the wound and got into his eyes. The red liquid stung his eyes as he called out at the younger male. He tried to reach into his pocket for something but ran out of time.
"But Jonghyun... I -"
That sentence would never be finished. Jonghyun held the frying pan above his head. The blood dripped off of the pan and into his brown hair. The liquid flew through the air as he swung it forwards into the taller male's head. Onew let out a final, gruesome scream before he stopped moving.
He was no longer conscious.
"Minho hyung, Key hyung. Wake up!" Taemin woke up to Onew's scream. Something was obviously wrong but the teenager refused to leave the room alone. He scrambled to the other two member's beds ripping off his their covers exposing their shirtless bodies to the cold air of the night. "Get your asses out of bed. Now!"
"Is it time for breakfast yet?" Minho was mumbling to himself rubbing his eyes. A loud noise came from the kitchen. It was a cracking sound. Minho jumped out of bed and put on a random zippered hoddie. "What the hell was that?" The two of them started pushing Key to try to get him out of bed.
"Umma needs to sleep kiddies." Key made an attempt to swat away the other two boys but failed miserably. They stared at him and he stared back.
"Kibum," Key turned towards Minho who called out his name and opened his eyes. "This is serious. Get up." Key silently got out of bed and slapped himself in the face in order to wake up. He grabbed a shirt off of the ground and put it on. It was Minho's shirt but nobody seemed to care in that moment that it was two sizes too big. The sound of metal hitting the wooden floor of the kitchen was heard. The three boys ran out of the bed room only to see what they never would have expected.
Onew was lying lifeless on the floor covered in blood. His body was mutilated beyond recognition. Jonghyun sat in a chair by the table with the sticky red liquid in his hair. He was looking at the soaked strands. The frying pan had been thrown across the room with a tail of blood following it. Key would never use that frying pan ever again.
The three boys stood in front of the carnage stunned. Jonghyun started at them and they stared back. No words were spoken in till he broke the silence confirming their suspicions.
"What the fuck did I just do?"
Taemin slapped the singer in the face and ran to Onew. He rubbed his cheek as Minho and Key looked at him in disgust. Key ran back to the bedroom to get his cell phone. He threw it to Minho who franticly punched in 119. "Damn it, pick up already."
Jonghyun buried his head in his hands and rubbed his temples. He was starting to get a migraine but he wouldn't go to the medicine cabinet to get some pain killers. Key would blame this whole catastrophe on him, not that he didn't think it was his own fault, and start an argument if he were to get up. He wasn't in the mood to deal with Key. It was better to let him be preoccupied with Onew.
Taemin tried to shake their leader awake but Key stopped him as the two of them cried together. They could no longer feel his breath.
Key was muttering to himself. Usually he was viewed as the responsible member of SHINee. He nagged about the other member's bad habits constantly. Why couldn't he be calm about this/ Why couldn't he fufill his role? He was afraid of what might just be the truth. He was afraid that Onew might be dead.
"Minho," Minho looked back to see Taemin whimpering. He got down to the younger's eye level and held him closely with Key's phone still at his ear. He sobbed quietly. "He's not breathing anymore."
Minho's eyes lit up with fear and let go of the younger boy. The emergency line picked up. "119, what is your emergency?"
"We need an ambulance. Our friend stopped breathing." A teary eyed Key ran up to Minho and took his phone back. He shouted in to it. "I think Lee Jinki is dead!"
A/N : For those of you who don't know 119 is the South Korean equivalent of 911. This is supposed to be a fluff story but it won't be fluffy in till chapter three (maybe two). I hope you guys like it so far and stay for the upcoming fluff. I have a 2min one shot I started before this series so I plan to try and finish that before I work on the next chapter of this. I'll probably end up writing shorter chapters so I can update more often.
