Went to the NYS Archives today downtown, despite the slushy snow. Found a decent parking spot, amazingly, but no good primary documents. You'd think that the archives of one of the largest and most historically and culturally important states of the 19th century would have, you know... stuff about the 19th century. So that was a bust, but maybe I'll have a better idea of what to look for after I go to class on Wed.
