Waiting For You

Waiting For You is a song for the drama Paradise Ranch, sung by Yesung of Super Junior. Since he also sang It Has To Be You from Cinderella Sister (of which I am still mystified as why it was not awarded nor given any proper acknowledgment in the vast year end awards of 2010. Come on - you could hear it being played anywhere and everywhere during it's peak)   This may be one of the reasons I started watching this with not much expectation, wondering if this time there would be an MV but found that Paradise Ranch had  most viewers reviewed it favourably better as compared to Heading To The Ground with another fellow member of TVXQ - Yunho as the lead.

Since I am anticipating Taisetsu, I found that Paradise Ranch , a more hopeful and comparatively cute drama with Lee Yeon Hee, who was in the MV for SM the Ballad last year and Changmin from TVXQ for his acting debut. Apparently they are both SM artists. I have to confess that knew TVXQ from Jpop scene first before I  found out that they were Korean. LOL.

In contrast, this story is about two teens who fell crazily in love, stubbornly got married with parents glowering and got divorced six months later. It doesn't show us why they got divorced but implied that they argued and fought with each other leading to their separation.

Six years later, they reunite in Australia bidding over a horse which Lee Da Ji wins (Yeon Hee). Upon returning to Jeju (yes the beautiful Jeju Island), Da Ji finds that her family has been conned and her land is now at the mercy of a mega Resort Developer who happens to be Dong Ju (Changmin) assigned by his father to oversea developments on Jeju.

Of course, plot points include that they stay in the same house as technically the land belongs to Dong Ju but the house is Daji's. Da Ji also works part time at the Resort and assists Dong Ju to liaise with villagers there to ensure that the resort activities can be undertaken with compromise to the livelihood of the villagers. Through this events. the divorced pair uncovers and rediscovers the aspects of themselves that stayed the same, that changed and grew. But conflicts arise with love interests for both of them at roughly the same time.

The story actually revolves around 2 pairs of divorced couples, a rich but career girl (Jin Young) who falls for male divorcees and the main leads who turn into quarreling kids who yell at each other about anything. Yet I'm really rooting for them as it shows that the passion and love is still there. they just have to compromise, communicate and  maybe get a kid or two so they won't be spending too much time rubbing each other the wrong way all the time.
