My Daddies

Yes, daddies. I got my second one on my wedding day :P Thought I would write up a little something about my daddies for Father's Day.

Badgerdad (nickname for my biological dad):

I have a ton of fun memories with my dad. When I was little, he worked graveyard shifts, so we used to hang out by napping. I wish I could get a copy of one of the pics my mom took when we were both completely zonked out on the couch. As I got older, he was able to switch from graveyard to day shifts. My dad's a bit of a hermit but he loves to go window shopping so anytime I wanted to just wander around, I would grab my dad for a "shopping" trip.

My dad loves to get little things for me and Mom. It's not unusual for him to pick up something for us that he thought we might like while he was window shopping. As long as its not expensive, my mom doesn't mind. It's also a lot of fun when he pops out of his office to ask me to come see a piece of jewelry he thinks my mom would like. The really funny thing is that he sometimes forgets who likes what and gets my mom something that is more my style or grabs me something that is more my mom's style. Not that we mind, we usually get a chuckle out of it.

One of the things I really love about my dad is how helpful he is when I have a rough time. He'll either distract me with stories from his youth or he'll help me work it out. Either way, he knows exactly what I need to help me feel better. I also need to get some of those stories on tape. He did some crazy things in his youth.

Jay (my mawwaige daddy's nickname):

Jay is a lot like my dad but a bit more outgoing. It's been a lot of fun getting to know him. He still tussles with his kids which is hilarious from a safe distance. I've only known him for about a year (it will be exactly a year from tomorrow), but I look forward to getting to know him. He's full of jokes like the one he sent me on facebook yesterday. I put my status as "Okay, who has been teaching the neighborhood magpie to make noises from Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds?" and his response was "Lol, I really didn't do it, but it sounds like something I'd do doesn't it?"

Ah, good times and good Dads

holidays, family
