Life...certainly got a lot more dangerous that first day she saw Jin trying to kill Noel at the fountain. And she doesn't regret jumping in for an instant. It took Nami a while to realise Noel was a much stronger fighter than she was, and that irritated her, not because she was jealous, but because Noel was capable of protecting herself and yet her total lack of self-esteem kept tripping her up. ...but, you know. It's also kind of cute, too. Noel reminds her a lot of Vivi, actually, and it's fun to tease her, but nobody else better damn well do it.
She worries about Noel so much, because she comes from a place where apparently everyone is a jerkass out to make her life a misery, even her so-called best friends. Nami doesn't want her to go back there. Ever. She wishes she could pack Noel onto the Thousand Sunny when they go home and Noel could sail with them forever, and the idea that going home to inevitably forget she ever knew Noel-- and it's already happened once-- makes her want to cry.
She doesn't know how Noel managed to get so close - maybe just through being through so much together, and being new to Luceti together, and sometimes it just feels like they're two puzzle pieces that just click so damn well. She knows about Noel being Mu. She doesn't care. Noel is Noel - no matter what else is built into her best friend, that's her personality, who Noel really is, and if she ever gets lost under Mu, Nami will do all she can to bring her back again.
Noel is a stronger fighter than Nami but not a stronger person than Nami, and she seem so fragile for someone who's been through so much. But Nami knows she's stronger than that when it counts. So Nami will let Noel protect her in a fight, and she'll just protect Noel from the jerks in town in other ways, and they'll just go around Luceti being awesome together forever.
