Seminar Biotechnology from NARA

Huaah, tanoshii...
Today, I've attended Science Seminar that is presented from NAIST (Nara Institution of Science and Technology). It's so interesting for me because it's my first time to come in international open lecture from Japan. (Ps: I got free snack and certificate ^_^)

First lecture, it's given by Kanaya sensei. For opening presentation, he seems so nervous and using Japlish (Japan-English). Fortunately, I used to hear that. Fuh, besides the topic about Bioinformatics so difficult for me coz I'm not in informatics area. He was introducing how it's program KNApSAcK work and he invites Indonesia for joining to fill database about Jamu in here since the herbs in Indo is large numbers and there is many prescription in Jamu nowadays. Three topics that is explained:
1. Bioinformatics: species-metabolite relation database (KNApSAcK)
2. Metabolomics approach for determining growth species metabolites based on FT-ICR-MS.
3. KNApSAcK Family: Towards sharing knowledge between Indonesia-NAIST.
So, if we need information about herbs and metabolites also component, we can use it. The function is responsibility of synergistic activity and reduction side effects, etc.

Thus, second lecture from Kawaichi sensei. It's about Bio molecular on Cell. He was giving the presentation about HtrA1 genes related the degenerative disease such as arthritis (osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis), AMD (macula damage in retina), CARASIL (Cerebral Autosomal Recessive Arteriopathy with Subcortical and Leokencephalopathy and Tumors.
He was presenting about pathology and possible therapeutic in biotechnology area.
Then, coz' It's from NARA. ^O^
Yep, this lecturer was explaining the presentation by promoting Nara before.
(It's remind me Cyo. He is success for promoting NARA even now more famous than Kyoto. Kawaichi sensei little bit talks about that)
He shows the picture of Todaiji temple's gate with two guardian statues and he was joking that those statues are very strong coz' they have stood for several years.

>V< It's making I want to go to there~
