I went to college for illustration.
I meant to go for fashion design, but that didn't end up being....anything I was remotely interested in. Fortunately.
While I was in college, I kept hearing the same things over and over and over:
"You need to define your style."
and
"You need to find the box."
My art was all over the place - different styles, different mediums....and not only was I outside of the box, I didn't know where the freaking box was. By graduation, I'd found the box - the whole style thing: totally beyond my comprehension.
Now, 5 years later, I think I finally get it.
So I'm finally attempting to put together an illustration portfolio.
All scratchboard.
In that light, I've finally gotten good scans of the pieces I've done, and I'm starting new work.
I'm going to start with three conceptual portraits of old-school Scientists. Charles Darwin, Marie Curie, and......maybe Issac Newton. That leaves me with 4 pieces to create before I can start marketing myself as an illustrator again.
