I can't sleep. I napped too much today. I go home in two days. From what, you ask? I'm finishing up an internship at Casa Manana in which I got to work alongside Jeff McCarthy and Glory Crampton. I was in heaven. After making a complete fool of myself at first, I managed to get back on good terms with them, I think. I got some pictures with some of my favorite kids. I already miss them so much. And to think I didn't have any fun with kids before this summer. It's funny how experiences change you. I don't think I'm very open-minded...I kind of just choose an opinion on things and stick behind it at all costs. However, I don't think it's my fault. I think it's Stephenville's fault. How can I possibly be anything but narrow-minded having lived in this hole my entire life? College had better expand my horizons before I turn into one of those people I hate.
This Casa Manana thing was certainly an experience. I think I'll make a list.
Interesting things that happened to me in the past 3 weeks:
1. I got pulled over at Sundance Square at 12:30AM for going the wrong way down a one way street.
2. I fell in love. Then out of love. Then in love (with someone else, of course). Then out of love. Then in love (with the second person again). Then out of love. I think that's all.
3. I discovered that all theatre people are not nice.
4. Especially techies. Although some are very cute.
5. I rediscovered (yes, I knew this before!) that my view is very limited (as you already read).
6. I missed my friends terribly.
7. I spent over $200 on my mom's credit card at the mall...oops.
8. My grandma, hurt and astonished upon learning that I never want to have kids of my own, made me read an article called "Baby Blues - How I Mourn The Child Who Never Was" which is basically this elderly lady lamenting for 5 pages her decision to not have kids.
9. I learned that if you present yourself to people as a type, they get offended if you do anything drastic to change their view of you.
10. I ate 4 buttermilk biscuits every morning, and yet...
11. I still lost 5 pounds!
12. I learned to like kids. Some of them (as you read earlier).
13. I read 14 books. I am NOT LYING, I swear. Granted, 8 of them were cute little romantic comedies, but the rest were Real Books.
14. I want my life to be a book. Someone should write a book about me.
15. Oh, lots of people noticed my Texan accent. They thought it was funny.
16. I was one day away from actually getting a manicure (something I've never done before) and I broke a nail. So I didn't end up getting a manicure, because then all but one of my nails would look nice.
17. I left my keys in Barnes & Noble and didn't realize it until midnight after the show. So I ran over but they were closed. I had to knock on the door until they noticed and they wouldn't even let me in...I had to yell through the glass door. They treated me like I was going to rob them or something. Sheesh. I think it was because I was wearing all black for the show. I kind of like the fact that they thought I looked dangerous. The Mysterious and Dangerous Mikah. Hey! That should be the title for my book!
When I put it this way, it makes me feel better. I didn't just spend three weeks of my life kid-wrangling! I had an adventure!
