I think Nadine and I are boycotting Easter this year. Up until Constantine decided to end the corellation, Easter was celebrated the Sunday after Passover in the tradition of Nazarite Judaism, as the celebration of Y'shua's ressurection. Since Nadine and I started celebrating Passover full on, it has coincided with Easter, until this year. It's a whole month off! The Eastern Orthodox Church isn't so far off, but this Western thing is annoying. Then again, I haven't seen Easter as very much of a ressurection celebration for years (don't get me started on the huge "Easter in the park" or "Easter at The Pavilion" craziness).
I think we're going to have our own little Easter after Passover. I'm exasperated with the consumeristic churchian Easter, that has more to do with the goddess Y'ostre than with the ressurection. Please, call it what it is. Or at least start celebrating it in line with Passover, as the original tradition was.
I often wonder how many other
God-fearers or B'nai Noach believe in Y'shua as Messiah and struggle with frustations like this concerning churchianity's ignorance. I know they're out there, I've met a few. Perhaps I just need to rant now and then, or perhaps I'm still searching for a sense of belonging. Maybe one day, those who do believe in this manner will be able to call the "Church at large" back to its roots.
