This is one of those situations that, I can hope will never, ever be repeated. Well...it probably won't be, at least not in the little humane society I'm in.
We are changing things around, yet once again. (I'm beginning to wonder if our Director is one of those ladies who are forever changing their furniture around....)
Anyway...the plan was, and is...put the small dog/puppy ISO where Cat ISO was (after the much needed painting and redoing of the floor, which was just done...thank havens for having a bad stuffy cold, couldn't smell a THING) So...we can start moving the small dog and puppy cages into there...clean the two empty rooms, (much needed, believe me) then toddly MY cages into those two rooms, so I can keep separate, sick cats from just 'holding' (mama cats with kittens, cats who've just come in and merely need spay/neuter to be adoptable)
Of course, while all this is going on, any and every cat possible is up front. Which includes, of course, sick (in my mini ISO) 'holding' meaning, cats brought in, and we have to hold them for xx amount of days, unhappy or frightened (which have a sign saying 'DO NOT TOUCH') (most stay in the back of the cage anyway) and full tomcat or two...who spray.
This has caused problems (will wait out the resultant sarcastic 'you don't say' type comments)

People aren't happy because they WANT those 'unadoptable' cats NOW. (why don't they EVER go for the healthy and ready to go home????) They want to pet and cuddle those scared, and not very tamed cats (he/she looks like they need a hug....yeah...and I've scratches on my arm after I picked up that ****** cat)
Yes, I could have left them all in the kitten room...except I also got told I was getting in MORE cats. Including at least ONE pregnant cat. (and can you imagine what would happen if she started kittening in the lobby?????)
Of course, the main complaint has been, people walk in, sniff, get this appalled look and ask 'OMG WHAT is that SMELL??????' When it is explained that we have a full tom...'why isn't he FIXED' Well....he's been here one night, Vet is coming in tomorrow, and will fix him. (which goes on with 'why don't you have a Vet full time...and don't go there, because then we'd have to talk about finances, the budget and....just don't go there)

Yes, we are making changes. These will be for the best, since our puppy/small dog room will now have a DRAIN in it. So the mess can be washed away into the sewer, and things will be cleaner. The guys will have that nice huge sink, and things will be better. I may not have the huge sink and drains, but I do have a new sink and water heater, I'll be able to isolate sick from holding, and eventually, I've even been promised a door to the outside. (not holding my breath here)

So...normal gripes and bitches about us not having a lobby full of cats, and kitten room full of kittens. (it's winter, we normally don't have more than 20 at this time anyway)
Add in gripes about tomcat stink (this is why you get them FIXED young) gripes about non available cats (go to Petsmart, they've taken every single one of my adoptables) oh...and the weather (not my department)

I guess, in a way...it was like when I was changing things around in my home office. you couldn't get anywhere, without stepping on or over things....I had piles everywhere, and it looked like a bomb had gone off. A couple of days later...had my altar set back up, computer running, things looking so much better. It will happen....eventually
