A charismatic individual, a misinterpreted vision, or even the rare deliberate influence - and suddenly an isolated enclave diverged to an alternative interpretation. Months or generations might pass before a traveler would discover any irregularity, but back then it was an easy game to play and benign mischance was effortlessly corrected. But yesterday came suddenly, bringing technological assistance in the rapid exchange of ideas. Advocates had foretold societal clarity, yet these marvels only fueled disinformation's growth. Even with filters and critters to sift through bloated reams of data, individual voices might quickly be drowned out by the din. Why

Nevertheless, once immersed in the noise, patterns were discernible. Objects of significance cohesed, most noticeably the lettered dice upon which the path first forked.
