can't even blame the usual error for this.

Last night we went to an Obama celebration party thrown by some friends of ours.  It was a lot of fun, replays of acceptance speeches and SNL parodies, although at one point I found myself unpopularly defending Jesse Jackson (not for his inclinations to castrate Obama).  But I was struck by the fact that one of the couples who attend most every community social gathering was noticably absent.  They were McCain supporters (there are more in NoVa than the nasty MM may have led one to believe).  I initially found this a bit surprising and even immature.  Combine this with Obama booing during McCain's concession speech and some particulary vitriolic and embittered things I've encountered in the blogosphere this week and I started thinking, "Come on, Republicans, Obama won, your guy lost, grow up and get over it."  And then I remembered my feelings after Kerry lost in '04.  I wasn't invited to any Bush celebration parties but I'm not even sure I could have sent back a gracious RSVP, let alone attended.
