okay]

Random mijmeraar Fact: I don't like Apocalyptic fic. Not even when the authors reasoning is well thought out or creative. Perhaps it is the overwhelming tragedy that dissaudes me. Or the fact that it's just. Over. Hopeless. At least when a fic says 'the end' I can imagine my own continuation, y'know? Is anybody really sold on the theme?

Supernatural Recs

Title: Born to Be My Baby.
Author: poisontaster
Pairing: Dean/OFC
Rating: All Audiences.
Read it because: It's part of an AU but can be read on its own, and is completely satisying on its own. It's a very small glimpse into an ordinary morning with Dean and his pregnant wife, Dean 'preving' on his pregnant wife because, poisontaster says, 'Dean is so that guy.' I really liked this for its simplicity, its homely feel, the hope that it exudes. It's something I know Dean will probably never want, but that I wish he could have had. 'Normal' [whatever that means] does exist, but is something I don't think Dean will ever believe in. Anyway, if fluff and happy ever after is your thing then so is this.

He curves his arm over her and buries his face in the back of her neck where the last trace of her body wash lingers after all day with an active, busy one-year old.

Title: Smoke and Mirrors.
Author: terraneanblues
Pairing: Sam, Dean, Gen.
Rating: PG
Read it because: This piece is just gorgeous. It brings the past and present together seamlessly, Dean's thoughts are executed really, really well and - especially for a first time fic - the writing is very good. Its speaks of the sadness of the Winchesters but it also finishes on some kinda of high note, the last line is perfect.

Instinct told him to flee, to save his own life, but that didn’t make sense to Dean, not the way a .45 in his palm or a dagger tucked against his waist made sense.

Title: Someday Never Comes.
Author: bangles
Characters: John, gen.
Rating: PG13
Read it because: If you don't already love John Winchester, read this and you will. Really. This has such character depth, gives John shades and colours that he never really had before, it brings life to something you only really assume or barely even consider of John. Of who he was before and who he must have become to make the decisions he was forced to make. It doesn't sugar coat anything, I promise you, no 'poor John' here. Those conclusions you can come to yourself.

Someday soon, he’d be able to stop moving. The boys would be able to get back to normal. He promised himself that as he stepped into the motel shower, still fully clothed, and let the lukewarm water sluice the black blood off his face.
