baby, you're getting better

The other day, paradise_city commented on due South and how she saw it as a show you LOVED or a show you didn't care about either way. This made me ridiculously happy, and I've only now decided to stop and think about why.

See, dS has been in my life longer than even I know. I remember seeing it mentioned, or listed as an interest, I think I even read a story or two without really knowing the context [aside from extremely vague recollections of it airing here in Aus]. Plus, I was too wrapped up in other things - cough J2 - to bother to know. Then, a few years ago it was suddenly everywhere, teasing me with it's shiny red tunic and experimental hair, and I said to sunnny, have you heard of this due south? I think need to learn more.

So began the reading of stories - Eight Sessions by speranza to start, luckily - then the downloading of episodes and eventual buying of DVDs. Oh, you would have been embarassed to be seen with me if you had been there when I finally found the S3 set. I almost cried.

Today, obviously, I am infatuated, while sunnny, who saw it all happen, doesn't care either way. She will listen to me rant, smile and nod, and then subtly work in the topic of the lifeguard J2 AU I promised her around the same time I came upon due south [and still haven't written].

This is what I know and believe of due South. It's like the best friend I knew 5 years before we were best friends, or the boy I pine over for reasons that can be explained but, fuck it, it's hard to explain because there are so many things that may not make sense to a lot of people. It's JUST A SHOW, it's not a living, breathing entity, growing explainding, changing. It's JUST AN OLD, SILLY SHOW, I know, but sometimes I forget.

And, what about you flist. Am I alone in my unhealthy obssession with TV shows? Should I put the remote down and go meet some real people? Or can you attest to feeling the same way ...

I know, I know, my crazy is showing. Personally I blame Fraser for that.
