What a hot, intellectually sexy fic that was!

LOL - you really had me going that Kirk had been kidnapped by some sadistic torturer - I bought it lock, stock and barrel and loved every minute of it. And did I mention that it was hot? Hell yeah. It was a serious mind-fuck, served up with the kind of bold, graphic writing that I totally dig, and for me, that at wasn’t even the best part of the story.

The best part was the absolute kick-ass way the story wasn’t over at the conclusion of the scene. Picking apart the psyches of Bones and Jim, explaining what’s in their minds and in their hearts to make what happened in the scene not just hot, but RIGHT is the stuff that separates the elite writer from even the A one. I especially enjoyed the exploration of Bone’s angst in a story that was clearly focused on Jim. It showed a lot of careful thought and attention to detail as to what was going on for both characters.

I thought the dialog was simply amazing. The train doesn’t stay on the tracks unless the author can convey to the reader how and why these two men would engage in such extreme conduct and do it in a way that allows the reader to hold them both in the utmost regard.

Kirk is so darn lucky to have a friend like Bones. LOL - I’m not sure if I would say that in RL, but in the world of Fanfic, it totally rocks and the way that Jim and Bones healed and comforted each other in the end…well, words fail me to describe how utterly delicious that was. You produced your usual display of ginormous writing talent and what a extra treat to see GoneAshore’s involvement in this since she is at the top of my list of favorite ST writers. I seriously think the two of you should give a writing partnership a try - I think the two of you could

*grins* Thank you! I don't know if I'd call my writing "elite," as I'm not published, and I'm a biologist, not a writer by trade and training, but I'm glad to know that my writing comes across as quality work. Thank you. :)

In a fic like this, I'm never sure how people will take it, and if they'd be able to understand the psychology in a relationship that involves hardcore kink. I'm a kinkster myself, in real life, and I'd say that Kirk is DAMNED lucky to have a friend and play partner like Bones, who would give so much of himself like that, just to make sure Jim has what he needs. People who aren't kinky have a misplaced perception that Doms and Tops will do just about anything, and that it's always the Dom trying to push the submissive or bottom to do harder and edgier things. But in reality, in a healthy kink relationship/friendship, the power dynamics actually ARE balanced, and in many cases, it's the Dom whose limits are being pushed by the sub, and the truest nature of a Dom is that he or she wants to give the sub everything he or she needs. So... Bones is the quintessential definition of a compassionate Dom - he wants nothing more than to take care of his sub's needs... and will push himself beyond his own comfort zone in order to do it.

I'm really glad you saw the emotional side of the fic as being the best part. To me, without it, the fic is pointless. A scene without aftercare in RL just doesn't work, and I find it jarring when I see it in fanfic. Exploring it just feels so satisfying.

GoneAshore and I have worked on each other's projects as betas and test readers. We bounce ideas off each other. When she wrote her first BDSM story (the one she posted on stbb), she used me as a resource. She helped me with my Big Bang, too. However, I don't think we'd actually co-write a story. I'm a control freak and wouldn't be able to share the actual writing. But I do love her writing. She does a damned fine job of beating up Jim Kirk, and that's always a good time in a fanfic. *grins*

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to read, and for leaving a comment. I'm delighted that you enjoyed the story! :)
