Summary : Everyone's New Year was going to be a very happy one .
It was that time of year again. Everyone was to be gathered inside the very big rehearsal room. The set list was finalized. 100 juniors were polishing their dance steps, while their seniors were running over their costumes and the stage setup. SMAP, TOKIO , KinKi Kids , V6 , Tackey&Tsubasa and Arashi we’re all gathered in the room. Kanjani8 and Hey!Say!JUMP arrived together , followed by a very tired looking Kis-My-Ft2 . YamaPi and Jin arrived together shortly afterwards, both looking happy and excited.
“ Haven’t seen you in a while , robot man . “ Ryo poked his bestfriends’ cheek .
“ I’m fine , so-called-sexy-osaka-man .” Pi replied as he smacked Ryo playfully on the head .
“ oi . What am I ? invisible ? “ Jin snorted at his best friends .
“ Oh . Uh , hello . And , you are . . ? “ Ryo managed to say before laughing at his other best friend’s stupidness.
“ Oi . I’ve been in the U.S for years now and this is how you greet me ? “ Jin snapped back. He smiled . They’re still the same as always . he thought to himself . I envy them .
He watched the other two talk and laugh like high school boys after their summer break. Unconsciously, he looked around the room , searching for that one person he wanted to talk to the most . He had a lot of explaining to do , and he knew that . Though they’ve talked a lot of times over the phone , Jin still can’t imagine finally seeing him and looking straight into his eyes again . And for once , he finally admitted to himself that he kinda missed Nakamaru and his dopiness , Junno and his lame dajares , Ueda and his out-of-this-world presence , and Koki and his annoyingness .
YamaPi was doing the same . For that very short moment when he stepped inside the Jimusho doors , he actually caught himself thinking about how it would be nice to sit inside the NEWS dressing room again and listen to Ryo and Tegoshi’s bickering. He shook his head , smiling . He missed them , of course . He never did deny the fact that what he felt was real . Half of his life was spent with the rest of the NEWS members . So now , he was anxious to see them again .
“ Those kids never did change , ne ? “ Tackey told Tsubasa while pointing at the three idiots in the corner .
“ They never did . Your fault . You taught them everything they know . “ Tsubasa answered back . He knew how strong Takki’s bond is with his juniors . Especially those three .
“ Hai . Everyone , please be ready . We’ll rehearse right from the top . “ Kimura Takuya ordered . Everyone rushed around , for they did not want to anger the king.
After 4 hours of dancing and singing , tripping over and laughing , everyone paused and watched as the doors of the rehearsal room opened as the 5 members of KAT-TUN and the 4 members of NEWS entered the room .
Ueda was the one to notice Jin first . He waved and smiled .
Jin never forgot how oddly beautiful Ueda was when he smiled , that he could do nothing more but smile himself as he made his way across the room .
“ You haven’t shaved at all . “ was how Ueda greeted Jin .
Jin shook his head in embarrassment . “ Never had the time . I’ll shave before the countdown . I promise . “ he said the last words in a voice of a 10 year old that made Ueda laugh .
“ ne ~ how’s everyone ? “
“ oh shut up . I know you only want to ask how Kame’s been . Oh he’s fine . He has this new drama coming up where he plays a demon . And he misses you . a LOT . I guess that’s what you want to hear. “ Ueda praised himself mentally for making Jin open his mouth in awe then blush after he said Kame missed him , which was true .
“ Come on . I miss everyone . For real . I even miss you , tat-chaaaaan~ . “ Jin made that girly sway and batted his eyelashes like a little girl would . Ueda made vomiting actions , Jin kicked him , and they both laughed .
“ Even Taguchi ? “
“ Yes , even that koala , Maru . “
“ It’s nice to have you back Jin . It’s been a long time . “
Jin made the first move and hugged Ueda . They’ve always been close . Jin felt very comfortable with Ueda . And knowing this person , Jin knows that when Ueda says these kinds of things , he would really mean it .
“ you’re crying “ Ueda stated a matter-of-factly .
Jin pulled away . “ No I am most certainly not . “ He opened his tiny eyes just to prove that he wasn’t crying .
“ Haha . You looked like a hanya ( devil ) just a moment ago . “
“ oh shut up . “
“ Ueda , can you come here for a moment please ? “
Jin snapped his head up . It was Kamenashi’s voice . Loud and clear . Their eyes met , and everyone felt the impact . Everyone meaning , the rest of KAT-TUN , Akame fans ( Yokoyama and Murakami ) and their papa Takki .
“ Oi . Careful or you’ll snap your head off . “ Nakamaru smacked Jin’s head . “ Tch . Still a baka . You never learn , do you ? “ he pinched Jin’s ears .
“ Oww ! that hurt ! Do you want me to strangle you ? “ Jin looked at Maru with his best death glare .
“ You can’t . I’m your sempai after all . “
“ Whatever . You’re still a wimp and I am stronger than you . “ Jin playfully grabbed Maru by the neck and started rubbing his head . “
“ Bakanishi stop that ! You know how frizzy my hair get when you do that ! “ Maru said as he was fighting Jin’s huge arms .
“ I know , that’s why I’m doing this .” and he rubbed it with more force now .
Kame was smiling while looking at them . It’s as if nothing happened . . . he happily thought to himself as he busied with the stage appearances and timings whatever .
“ Stop staring or your eyes will pop out . “ Ueda told Kame .
“ I wasn’t staring . . . “ was all Kame could stutter out .
Ueda looked at him with that * bitchy * stare and just shrugged his shoulders . “ Well , if you say so . But I suggest you talk to him . It’s about time you break out of that shell of yours . He’s finally here and I know you’ve been waiting . Or do you want Koki to do something about this ? “
He pointed at Koki who was staring at Kame . He made this *go-to-him-and-talk-or-I’ll-be-your-devil-and-do-something-about-it* gesture which made Kame’s knees go weak . He had no other choice but to obey .

On the other side of the room , Koyama was happily talking to Pi . It was like , a mother and son being reunited after a few years . Koyama kept hugging Pi , and Pi was smiling more than ever .
“ You’ve grown , Pi . “ Koyama kept saying . There was a myriad of emotions going through his body at the moment . YamaPi and the rest were like his sons . Koyama still remembered how he took care of everyone back when they were first formed . Pi was seen as the leader , but everyone knew that Koyama was older and more mature .
“ I’ve been drinking more milk , mama . “ Pi answered back jokingly . They both laughed .
“ ne , how’s Tegoshi ? you know , with all that Ryo stuff . . . “ Pi asked in a whisper .
“ he’s been doing well . Massu’s been taking care of Tego . They’re closer now , more than ever . But Massu knows that there still are feelings left for Ryo inside Tegoshi . In fact , he even thought of not showing up today for the countdown rehearsals when he found out Kanjani8 was going to be here as well . “
Both of them looked at Tegoshi . He was happily sitting on the bench , talking to Massu and occasionally dropping a few glances here and there at Ryo , who was talking to Shige . Tegoshi would then look away the moment Ryo noticed him looking .
“ Look at those two . It’s like , those crushes back in grade school where you’re too shy to talk to the guy you like . “ Koyama said exasperatingly .
“ Easy for you to say . Shige always liked you , and you always liked Shige . If it wasn’t for my magical powers , you two would still be an awkward pair of lovers who would get sweaty every time you guys are together in one room . “ he looked at Koyama with a mocking expression .
“ Alright , alright . Thank You so much , oh mighty god of love . Now , if you please , help those two kids remove that obvious tension between them ? “ he pointed to Tegoshi and Ryo .
“ You sure Massu won’t mind ? “ Pi asked rather worriedly .
“ Pi , it’s been three years since you guys left . And for the three years they’ve been together , Massu knows Ryo still has a special place in Tegoshi’s life . He’s been trying to make the two sort it out as well . “ Koyama gave Pi a push as he said his and did the “ kon-kon “ action in doing so .
Pi smirked and waltz ( literally ) to where Tegoshi was sitting . He greeted him casually and received a hug back .
“ How have you been Pi ? It’s been quite sometime ne ~ “ Tegoshi said as he looked at his so-called onii-san .
“ I’ve missed you too . You’re still the pampered little princess aren’t you ? Koyama still gives you what you want ne . . . “
But before Pi could do anything to help Tegoshi and Ryo patch things up , everyone’s attention was called .
“ Since KAT-TUN and NEWS were late for about 6 hours , we have to do extra time since final rehearsals will be held tomorrow at 4pm and the countdown will start at around 10 “ their stage director stated . Everyone was tired , but they had to do this .
Everyone went on rehearsing . Tegoshi and Ryo never spoke to each other . Kame and Jin never had the chance to do so as well .

On the night of the final rehearsals a.k.a the annual Johnny’s Countdown , everyone had their first batch of costumes on . The host this time was SMAP and as expected , the set list and effects were very grand .
NEWS was singing their debut single on stage . Ryo was watching them perform on one of the audience seats . His heart skipped a beat when Tegoshi looked his way .
‘ I shouldn’t be feeling like this . ‘ he said to himself as he felt his blood rush through his vains .
“ You should talk to him . “ came YamaPi’s voice . He sat down next to his best friends and watched NEWS sing Hoshi wo Mezashite with KAT-TUN .
“ You broke his heart when you said you were leaving . You never even gave him a proper apology and a proper goodbye . “
“ What do I have to apologize for ? And what about you . You also left the group . How does that make a difference ? Ryo asked Pi rather angrily .
“ At least I didn’t break anyone’s heart by promising them I’d be by their side forever . It wasn’t me who left a certain someone heartbroken for weeks . Just so you know , because of how Tegoshi reacted , I even thought about taking back what I said and just stay in NEWS . “ Pi stood up . He faced Ryo and pointed his fingers at him the same way he did during his Kurosagi drama .
“ Talk to him . At least make his New Year a good one . “ then he went - bang - and walked away .
“ So , have you talked to him yet ? “ Koki asked while fixing his hair .
“ I was going to , but that stupid director just had to call our attention at that exact moment . “ Kame dropped on the couch and kicked his feet around like a little boy .
“ So , are you going to talk to him today ? Or , go near him , at least . “ Junno asked . He was quite interested in what was happening between Kame and Jin , though he never did openly state that fact .
“ He should . Or else I’d be forced to give Jin all those letters he’s been writing but never sent . I swear , there’s a whole box of those letters back in my apartment . “ Ueda said as he went on fixing Maru’s hair .
“ Why are the letters with you , Uepi ? “ Maru asked a bit surprised .
“ FINE . I’ll talk to him . But I’ll wait after the countdown . I don’t want to be stressed while singing on stage . “ Kame stood up and stormed out of the room .
“ So , tell us why you have all the letters Kame wrote for Jin ? “ Maru poked Ueda’s sides . The 3 of them we’re quite shocked to hear what Ueda had to say .

15 minutes ‘til the countdown . Everyone was rushing backstage . There were about 100 juniors running around , trying to find an extra piece for their costume while some were being ordered around .
Tegoshi walked out of their dressing room and made his way to NEWS’ station backstage when someone pulled him around the corner .
“ What do you think your doing ? ! “ he opened his mouth to say more but stopped at the moment he met Ryo’s dark hazel eyes .
“ What do you want ? “ he turned his head away trying to keep the tears from falling .
“ Listen , Tegoshi , I’m really sorry about what happened . It’s just that - “
“ Oh so now you tell me . Did you even know how many days I waited for you to call or show your face in my apartment to explain yourself ? ! “
“ You never showed up back in the agency after that ! “
“ So now it’s my fault you never got to explain yourself while you had the time ? Why would I enter the agency looking like a piece of CRAP when you could’ve told me you had planned about leaving ? What happened to ‘ I’ll never leave you Tegoshi ‘ and ‘ I promise you . We’ll be together forever . I promise . ‘ eh ? where did they go ? ANSWER ME . “
Tegoshi was now on the verge of crying . He still is so crushed at how Ryo had managed to leave him like that . How Ryo , out of all people , would leave THEM behind . Koyama may not have accepted it coolly , but Tegoshi knew that he cried his heart out after the meeting .
“ I . . . I’m so sorry Tegoshi . I know I shouldn’t have left you guys like that . I shouldn’t have left YOU that way . I had no idea how to tell you about that , because I knew that it would break your heart . “ Ryo answered with a bowed head .
“ Please , forgive me . “
Tegoshi wanted to forgive Ryo . He had Massu now . He was happy . and it’s been years anyway . He just turned around and walked away . Ryo ran towards Tegoshi and hugged him from the back . That was when Tegoshi’s walls melted and he started crying . He missed Ryo’s hugs , that was a fact . He missed Ryo’s smiles and a lot more . They stood there like that for about 2 minutes .
Tegoshi turned around and looked Ryo straight in the eyes .
“ I forgive you . But in one condition . . “
“ What is it then ? “
“ . . . I still get to call you Ryo-tan . “
Ryo smiled his killer smile and hugged Tegoshi . “ You have Massu now , so don’t go around playing with someone else ! “
They laughed , and Tegoshi smacked Ryo on the head .

“ ano , Kame . . . “
Kame froze . He knew that voice too well . That was the voice that always sent his heart jumping .
‘ control yourself , Kamenashi Kazuya . Don’t make a fool out of yourself . not today . ‘ he thought to himself as he took a deep breath and turned around to face Jin .
“ Long time no see . How have you been ? “ Kamenashi tried to look at Jin’s eyes without blushing .
“ uh , yeah . I’m fine . Everything’s going as planned . “ he smiled weakly . Kame smiled back at him and Jin felt like he was going to trip over air . He missed seeing that beautiful smile , that smile that used to belong to him .
Kame waited for Jin to say something . The atmosphere became more awkward as they just stood there in silence . It never felt this way before . Never .
Kame was about to turn away when Jin finally managed to stutter something out .
“ hey . . . Kame . I - I think we have . . you know . . we have . . things to talk about . “ Jin wiped sweat from his forehead .
“ eh ? “ Kame seemed like he chocked on his own saliva for a moment there . He looked at Jin, wide-eyed , when a ball hit him on the head hard . “ Itte . . . “ he rubbed his head and turned around .
A laughing Koki pointed to a giggling Ueda who pointed at derped-face Maru , who pointed at a clueless Junno .
“ It wasn’t me ! It wasn’t me ! “ Junno exclaimed as the other 3 laughed at him .
Kame turned to face Jin again and said “ I think this can wait until after the countdown . . . “ he slowly walked away .
“ If you must know , I wrote Kizuna for you . I never thought the fans would think of such a thing but I was surprised when they concluded that Care was like , an answer for Kizuna . And when you told me that you wrote Care for me , I acted coolly that day right ? Just so you know , I went home smiling . I was going to tell you Kizuna was for you , but I was too shy . . . “ Jin said .
Kame stood , frozen , listening to Jin’s voice . He knew this paragraph so well . He had to keep on rewriting the same thing over and over again that night when Jin left for america . He never recalled sending the letter . . .
Then there was Ueda .
Kame looked at him with very shocked eyes . Ueda smiled , shrugged , then pointed at Jin .
Jin was holding an envelope . Addressed to the U.S , to a Jin Akanishi , from a Kamenashi Kazuya of Japan . Jin was smiling a soft , tender smile . He knew how Kame felt all along . Kame just never figured out that Jin felt the same . He even thought about going back to Japan when the first batch of letters arrived , courtesy of Ueda .
“ Listen , Kazu . . . I wanted to tell you about everything . . I never expected you to know from Maru . . . “
“ Oi don’t push the blame on me now . “ Nakamaru said the moment he heard his name . Jin paid no attention whatsoever .
“ and , long story short , I Love You . “
Kame had no idea what to say . He already knew the reasons why Jin left KAT-TUN . it wasn’t because of him , it wasn’t because of the other members . He knew everything , what he never believed in was that Jin loved him all the same , even though Ueda already kept telling him that .
“ . . .you . . . what ? “ Kame asked . He was still in a state of shock .
“ I Love You , you little baka . Don’t make me say it again , it’s embarrassing . . . “ Jin blushed and pulled Kame into a hug . Kame hugged back of course , this was the moment he kept of dreaming of night after night .
“ HAI . EVERYONE , PLEASE BE READY FOR STAND-BY . 1 MINUTE ‘TIL THE CONCERT STARTS . “ came the loud , annoying voice of the director .
“ That jerk . I’m gonna strangle him for his impeccable timing . “ Jin said through gritted teeth . Kame laughed at him . He pecked Jin on the cheeck while pushing him towards the stage .
“ We still have the New Year ahead of us . “ Kame said as he ran to where KAT-TUN was positioned . Jin was smiling to himself . He has successfully told Kame what he should have told him YEARS ago .
The concert began .

During YamaPi’s solo performance , he saw Uchiwas with his face on them , and a ‘ NEWS misses you ‘ written on the back . He also noticed the rest of NEWS and Ryo sitting in the VIP area watching him perform .
After his song , he still had 15 seconds left on the stage before the next performance begun . With all his heart and soul , he screamed through the microphone “ I MISS NEWS “ .
The fans screamed in delight .
The NEWS members yelled out “ WE MISS YOU TOO “ , and Ryo yelled back “ I’M ALSO HERE “ .

“ yosh , we only have 15 seconds left of the year everyone . Please stand-up and countdown with us in 10 , 9 , 8 , 7 , 6 , 5 , 4 , 3 , 2 , 1 . “ SMAP began and everyone began to count down .
“ HAPPY NEW YEAR “ everyone yelled together . Party Poppers popped , fireworks were lit , and everyone was bowing , greeting everyone a happy new year .
The Seniors took the stage singing Midnight Shuffle while the younger stars headed back stage to change costumes .
Tegoshi whispered something to Massu , kissed him and ran to where Ryo was standing .
“ Happy New Year , Ryo-tan . “ Tegoshi pecked Ryo on the cheek and smiled his sweet smile that Ryo loved the most .
“ Happy New Year , Tego-nyan . “ they hugged for what seemed like an eternity .
“ Hai Hai enough mushy stuff . Both of you . Stop that . “ Koyama pulled them apart , while grinning .
“ Oi , Yamashita . come here . Massu ! Shige ! “ the 6 of them were gathered in one place for the first time in years .
Koyama pulled everyone into a very emotion-filled group hug . It felt like they were NEWS again . 6-nin NEWS who were about to go out and do a concert . Everyone hugged everyone , and knowing Koyama , he cried . And because it was such a sweet moment , Massu , Tegoshi , Shige , Pi and Ryo let the tears flow down freely .
I still love these guys no matter what happens . Ryo thought to himself while he hugged Pi . and Pi felt the same way .

KAT-TUN was also having their sweet , member-ai moments . Everyone hugged everyone . Maru and Ueda were exceptionally sweet .
“ Jin ! come here ! “ Koki yelled across the room .
Jin came running , and the six of them formed a circle , for the first time in KAT-TUN’s history .
They put their hands in the center , led by Koki .
“ Hai . Now , Happy New Year everyone . This is going to be a very good start for all of us . And finally , eeh , we have Kame and Jin who are now back to being their selves again . I hope for a blesses New Year . Everyone , HAPPY NEW YEAR ! “ koki finished his speech , then they cheered and hugged everyone again .
This time Ueda , Maru , Koki and Junno gave Jin and Kame space .
Jin hugged Kame . “ Happy New Year , Kazu “ . “ Happy New Year Jin . “ and as the song ended , Jin kissed Kame . After what seemed like forever , both of them were smiling at each other , arms wrapped around each other as if nothing else mattered .
“ We still have to sing on stage you know . . . “ Maru told them , and they just laughed as an answer .

In the middle of NEWS’ performances of Dreams , YamaPi and Ryo went on stage and sang with them . They also did Fighting Man and Kibou ~ Yell .
Their fans all screamed wildly as the 6 of them did their usual thing on stage .
KAT-TUN came in after . Singing Harukana Yakusoku and Keep the Faith , Jin also came up on stage , danced and sang like the old days . Everyone watched this in delight .
They all had a very good start for the New Year .

Tackey happily watched everything that happened behind-the-scenes . He was more than happy of what these people have achieved . He loved them . He unconditionally loves them .

“ Haha . You looked like a hanya ( devil ) just a moment ago . “
“ oh shut up . “
“ Ueda , can you come here for a moment please ? “
Jin snapped his head up . It was Kamenashi’s voice . Loud and clear . Their eyes met , and everyone felt the impact . Everyone meaning , the rest of KAT-TUN , Akame fans ( Yokoyama and Murakami ) and their papa Takki .
“ Oi . Careful or you’ll snap your head off . “ Nakamaru smacked Jin’s head . “ Tch . Still a baka . You never learn , do you ? “ he pinched Jin’s ears .
“ Oww ! that hurt ! Do you want me to strangle you ? “ Jin looked at Maru with his best death glare .
“ You can’t . I’m your sempai after all . “
“ Whatever . You’re still a wimp and I am stronger than you . “ Jin playfully grabbed Maru by the neck and started rubbing his head . “
“ Bakanishi stop that ! You know how frizzy my hair get when you do that ! “ Maru said as he was fighting Jin’s huge arms .
“ I know , that’s why I’m doing this .” and he rubbed it with more force now .
Kame was smiling while looking at them . It’s as if nothing happened . . . he happily thought to himself as he busied with the stage appearances and timings whatever .
“ Stop staring or your eyes will pop out . “ Ueda told Kame .
“ I wasn’t staring . . . “ was all Kame could stutter out .
Ueda looked at him with that * bitchy * stare and just shrugged his shoulders . “ Well , if you say so . But I suggest you talk to him . It’s about time you break out of that shell of yours . He’s finally here and I know you’ve been waiting . Or do you want Koki to do something about this ? “
He pointed at Koki who was staring at Kame . He made this *go-to-him-and-talk-or-I’ll-be-your-devil-and-do-something-about-it* gesture which made Kame’s knees go weak . He had no other choice but to obey .

On the other side of the room , Koyama was happily talking to Pi . It was like , a mother and son being reunited after a few years . Koyama kept hugging Pi , and Pi was smiling more than ever .
“ You’ve grown , Pi . “ Koyama kept saying . There was a myriad of emotions going through his body at the moment . YamaPi and the rest were like his sons . Koyama still remembered how he took care of everyone back when they were first formed . Pi was seen as the leader , but everyone knew that Koyama was older and more mature .
“ I’ve been drinking more milk , mama . “ Pi answered back jokingly . They both laughed .
“ ne , how’s Tegoshi ? you know , with all that Ryo stuff . . . “ Pi asked in a whisper .
“ he’s been doing well . Massu’s been taking care of Tego . They’re closer now , more than ever . But Massu knows that there still are feelings left for Ryo inside Tegoshi . In fact , he even thought of not showing up today for the countdown rehearsals when he found out Kanjani8 was going to be here as well . “
Both of them looked at Tegoshi . He was happily sitting on the bench , talking to Massu and occasionally dropping a few glances here and there at Ryo , who was talking to Shige . Tegoshi would then look away the moment Ryo noticed him looking .
“ Look at those two . It’s like , those crushes back in grade school where you’re too shy to talk to the guy you like . “ Koyama said exasperatingly .
“ Easy for you to say . Shige always liked you , and you always liked Shige . If it wasn’t for my magical powers , you two would still be an awkward pair of lovers who would get sweaty every time you guys are together in one room . “ he looked at Koyama with a mocking expression .
“ Alright , alright . Thank You so much , oh mighty god of love . Now , if you please , help those two kids remove that obvious tension between them ? “ he pointed to Tegoshi and Ryo .
“ You sure Massu won’t mind ? “ Pi asked rather worriedly .
“ Pi , it’s been three years since you guys left . And for the three years they’ve been together , Massu knows Ryo still has a special place in Tegoshi’s life . He’s been trying to make the two sort it out as well . “ Koyama gave Pi a push as he said his and did the “ kon-kon “ action in doing so .
Pi smirked and waltz ( literally ) to where Tegoshi was sitting . He greeted him casually and received a hug back .
“ How have you been Pi ? It’s been quite sometime ne ~ “ Tegoshi said as he looked at his so-called onii-san .
“ I’ve missed you too . You’re still the pampered little princess aren’t you ? Koyama still gives you what you want ne . . . “
But before Pi could do anything to help Tegoshi and Ryo patch things up , everyone’s attention was called .
“ Since KAT-TUN and NEWS were late for about 6 hours , we have to do extra time since final rehearsals will be held tomorrow at 4pm and the countdown will start at around 10 “ their stage director stated . Everyone was tired , but they had to do this .
Everyone went on rehearsing . Tegoshi and Ryo never spoke to each other . Kame and Jin never had the chance to do so as well .

On the night of the final rehearsals a.k.a the annual Johnny’s Countdown , everyone had their first batch of costumes on . The host this time was SMAP and as expected , the set list and effects were very grand .
NEWS was singing their debut single on stage . Ryo was watching them perform on one of the audience seats . His heart skipped a beat when Tegoshi looked his way .
‘ I shouldn’t be feeling like this . ‘ he said to himself as he felt his blood rush through his vains .
“ You should talk to him . “ came YamaPi’s voice . He sat down next to his best friends and watched NEWS sing Hoshi wo Mezashite with KAT-TUN .
“ You broke his heart when you said you were leaving . You never even gave him a proper apology and a proper goodbye . “
“ What do I have to apologize for ? And what about you . You also left the group . How does that make a difference ? Ryo asked Pi rather angrily .
“ At least I didn’t break anyone’s heart by promising them I’d be by their side forever . It wasn’t me who left a certain someone heartbroken for weeks . Just so you know , because of how Tegoshi reacted , I even thought about taking back what I said and just stay in NEWS . “ Pi stood up . He faced Ryo and pointed his fingers at him the same way he did during his Kurosagi drama .
“ Talk to him . At least make his New Year a good one . “ then he went - bang - and walked away .
“ So , have you talked to him yet ? “ Koki asked while fixing his hair .
“ I was going to , but that stupid director just had to call our attention at that exact moment . “ Kame dropped on the couch and kicked his feet around like a little boy .
“ So , are you going to talk to him today ? Or , go near him , at least . “ Junno asked . He was quite interested in what was happening between Kame and Jin , though he never did openly state that fact .
“ He should . Or else I’d be forced to give Jin all those letters he’s been writing but never sent . I swear , there’s a whole box of those letters back in my apartment . “ Ueda said as he went on fixing Maru’s hair .
“ Why are the letters with you , Uepi ? “ Maru asked a bit surprised .
“ FINE . I’ll talk to him . But I’ll wait after the countdown . I don’t want to be stressed while singing on stage . “ Kame stood up and stormed out of the room .
“ So , tell us why you have all the letters Kame wrote for Jin ? “ Maru poked Ueda’s sides . The 3 of them we’re quite shocked to hear what Ueda had to say .

15 minutes ‘til the countdown . Everyone was rushing backstage . There were about 100 juniors running around , trying to find an extra piece for their costume while some were being ordered around .
Tegoshi walked out of their dressing room and made his way to NEWS’ station backstage when someone pulled him around the corner .
“ What do you think your doing ? ! “ he opened his mouth to say more but stopped at the moment he met Ryo’s dark hazel eyes .
“ What do you want ? “ he turned his head away trying to keep the tears from falling .
“ Listen , Tegoshi , I’m really sorry about what happened . It’s just that - “
“ Oh so now you tell me . Did you even know how many days I waited for you to call or show your face in my apartment to explain yourself ? ! “
“ You never showed up back in the agency after that ! “
“ So now it’s my fault you never got to explain yourself while you had the time ? Why would I enter the agency looking like a piece of CRAP when you could’ve told me you had planned about leaving ? What happened to ‘ I’ll never leave you Tegoshi ‘ and ‘ I promise you . We’ll be together forever . I promise . ‘ eh ? where did they go ? ANSWER ME . “
Tegoshi was now on the verge of crying . He still is so crushed at how Ryo had managed to leave him like that . How Ryo , out of all people , would leave THEM behind . Koyama may not have accepted it coolly , but Tegoshi knew that he cried his heart out after the meeting .
“ I . . . I’m so sorry Tegoshi . I know I shouldn’t have left you guys like that . I shouldn’t have left YOU that way . I had no idea how to tell you about that , because I knew that it would break your heart . “ Ryo answered with a bowed head .
“ Please , forgive me . “
Tegoshi wanted to forgive Ryo . He had Massu now . He was happy . and it’s been years anyway . He just turned around and walked away . Ryo ran towards Tegoshi and hugged him from the back . That was when Tegoshi’s walls melted and he started crying . He missed Ryo’s hugs , that was a fact . He missed Ryo’s smiles and a lot more . They stood there like that for about 2 minutes .
Tegoshi turned around and looked Ryo straight in the eyes .
“ I forgive you . But in one condition . . “
“ What is it then ? “
“ . . . I still get to call you Ryo-tan . “
Ryo smiled his killer smile and hugged Tegoshi . “ You have Massu now , so don’t go around playing with someone else ! “
They laughed , and Tegoshi smacked Ryo on the head .

“ ano , Kame . . . “
Kame froze . He knew that voice too well . That was the voice that always sent his heart jumping .
‘ control yourself , Kamenashi Kazuya . Don’t make a fool out of yourself . not today . ‘ he thought to himself as he took a deep breath and turned around to face Jin .
“ Long time no see . How have you been ? “ Kamenashi tried to look at Jin’s eyes without blushing .
“ uh , yeah . I’m fine . Everything’s going as planned . “ he smiled weakly . Kame smiled back at him and Jin felt like he was going to trip over air . He missed seeing that beautiful smile , that smile that used to belong to him .
Kame waited for Jin to say something . The atmosphere became more awkward as they just stood there in silence . It never felt this way before . Never .
Kame was about to turn away when Jin finally managed to stutter something out .
“ hey . . . Kame . I - I think we have . . you know . . we have . . things to talk about . “ Jin wiped sweat from his forehead .
“ eh ? “ Kame seemed like he chocked on his own saliva for a moment there . He looked at Jin, wide-eyed , when a ball hit him on the head hard . “ Itte . . . “ he rubbed his head and turned around .
A laughing Koki pointed to a giggling Ueda who pointed at derped-face Maru , who pointed at a clueless Junno .
“ It wasn’t me ! It wasn’t me ! “ Junno exclaimed as the other 3 laughed at him .
Kame turned to face Jin again and said “ I think this can wait until after the countdown . . . “ he slowly walked away .
“ If you must know , I wrote Kizuna for you . I never thought the fans would think of such a thing but I was surprised when they concluded that Care was like , an answer for Kizuna . And when you told me that you wrote Care for me , I acted coolly that day right ? Just so you know , I went home smiling . I was going to tell you Kizuna was for you , but I was too shy . . . “ Jin said .
Kame stood , frozen , listening to Jin’s voice . He knew this paragraph so well . He had to keep on rewriting the same thing over and over again that night when Jin left for america . He never recalled sending the letter . . .
Then there was Ueda .
Kame looked at him with very shocked eyes . Ueda smiled , shrugged , then pointed at Jin .
Jin was holding an envelope . Addressed to the U.S , to a Jin Akanishi , from a Kamenashi Kazuya of Japan . Jin was smiling a soft , tender smile . He knew how Kame felt all along . Kame just never figured out that Jin felt the same . He even thought about going back to Japan when the first batch of letters arrived , courtesy of Ueda .
“ Listen , Kazu . . . I wanted to tell you about everything . . I never expected you to know from Maru . . . “
“ Oi don’t push the blame on me now . “ Nakamaru said the moment he heard his name . Jin paid no attention whatsoever .
“ and , long story short , I Love You . “
Kame had no idea what to say . He already knew the reasons why Jin left KAT-TUN . it wasn’t because of him , it wasn’t because of the other members . He knew everything , what he never believed in was that Jin loved him all the same , even though Ueda already kept telling him that .
“ . . .you . . . what ? “ Kame asked . He was still in a state of shock .
“ I Love You , you little baka . Don’t make me say it again , it’s embarrassing . . . “ Jin blushed and pulled Kame into a hug . Kame hugged back of course , this was the moment he kept of dreaming of night after night .
“ HAI . EVERYONE , PLEASE BE READY FOR STAND-BY . 1 MINUTE ‘TIL THE CONCERT STARTS . “ came the loud , annoying voice of the director .
“ That jerk . I’m gonna strangle him for his impeccable timing . “ Jin said through gritted teeth . Kame laughed at him . He pecked Jin on the cheeck while pushing him towards the stage .
“ We still have the New Year ahead of us . “ Kame said as he ran to where KAT-TUN was positioned . Jin was smiling to himself . He has successfully told Kame what he should have told him YEARS ago .
The concert began .

During YamaPi’s solo performance , he saw Uchiwas with his face on them , and a ‘ NEWS misses you ‘ written on the back . He also noticed the rest of NEWS and Ryo sitting in the VIP area watching him perform .
After his song , he still had 15 seconds left on the stage before the next performance begun . With all his heart and soul , he screamed through the microphone “ I MISS NEWS “ .
The fans screamed in delight .
The NEWS members yelled out “ WE MISS YOU TOO “ , and Ryo yelled back “ I’M ALSO HERE “ .

“ yosh , we only have 15 seconds left of the year everyone . Please stand-up and countdown with us in 10 , 9 , 8 , 7 , 6 , 5 , 4 , 3 , 2 , 1 . “ SMAP began and everyone began to count down .
“ HAPPY NEW YEAR “ everyone yelled together . Party Poppers popped , fireworks were lit , and everyone was bowing , greeting everyone a happy new year .
The Seniors took the stage singing Midnight Shuffle while the younger stars headed back stage to change costumes .
Tegoshi whispered something to Massu , kissed him and ran to where Ryo was standing .
“ Happy New Year , Ryo-tan . “ Tegoshi pecked Ryo on the cheek and smiled his sweet smile that Ryo loved the most .
“ Happy New Year , Tego-nyan . “ they hugged for what seemed like an eternity .
“ Hai Hai enough mushy stuff . Both of you . Stop that . “ Koyama pulled them apart , while grinning .
“ Oi , Yamashita . come here . Massu ! Shige ! “ the 6 of them were gathered in one place for the first time in years .
Koyama pulled everyone into a very emotion-filled group hug . It felt like they were NEWS again . 6-nin NEWS who were about to go out and do a concert . Everyone hugged everyone , and knowing Koyama , he cried . And because it was such a sweet moment , Massu , Tegoshi , Shige , Pi and Ryo let the tears flow down freely .
I still love these guys no matter what happens . Ryo thought to himself while he hugged Pi . and Pi felt the same way .

KAT-TUN was also having their sweet , member-ai moments . Everyone hugged everyone . Maru and Ueda were exceptionally sweet .
“ Jin ! come here ! “ Koki yelled across the room .
Jin came running , and the six of them formed a circle , for the first time in KAT-TUN’s history .
They put their hands in the center , led by Koki .
“ Hai . Now , Happy New Year everyone . This is going to be a very good start for all of us . And finally , eeh , we have Kame and Jin who are now back to being their selves again . I hope for a blesses New Year . Everyone , HAPPY NEW YEAR ! “ koki finished his speech , then they cheered and hugged everyone again .
This time Ueda , Maru , Koki and Junno gave Jin and Kame space .
Jin hugged Kame . “ Happy New Year , Kazu “ . “ Happy New Year Jin . “ and as the song ended , Jin kissed Kame . After what seemed like forever , both of them were smiling at each other , arms wrapped around each other as if nothing else mattered .
“ We still have to sing on stage you know . . . “ Maru told them , and they just laughed as an answer .

In the middle of NEWS’ performances of Dreams , YamaPi and Ryo went on stage and sang with them . They also did Fighting Man and Kibou ~ Yell .
Their fans all screamed wildly as the 6 of them did their usual thing on stage .
KAT-TUN came in after . Singing Harukana Yakusoku and Keep the Faith , Jin also came up on stage , danced and sang like the old days . Everyone watched this in delight .
They all had a very good start for the New Year .

Tackey happily watched everything that happened behind-the-scenes . He was more than happy of what these people have achieved . He loved them . He unconditionally loves them .
