YX had been preparing for the ballet exams for the past few months. We have been ferrying her to West Coast for additional lessons at the teacher's studio every Sunday for the past 2 mths and have watched the cute little gals in pink tutu go through their routine with the pianist. I loved the songs that they dance to and had a great time watching them sing and dance.
YX was very excited on the day of the exams. She had been sick for more than a week before the exams and was pretty bored being kept at home. She was definitely looking forward to meeting up with her ballet friends and also to get her hair styled professionally :)
We arrived at the exam venue about 1.5 hours before the exam and she changed into her tutu before getting her hair done up.
It was purely amazing to see how the stylist did up the girls' hair.. and they all looked like they had super long hair! :)
The gals all looked alike after getting the same hairstyle.
She ran around with her friends while waiting for her turn to go in. ..
Rebecca and YX are partners in crime during classes...
As she was sick the week before and missed her classes, I thought she might forget some of the steps. On our way to the studio, I chatted with her in the car and pretended to be the examiner. One of the lines she had to say, when the examiner asked ' where are you going today?' the children were to reply ' we are going to the toy shop'... YX cheekily told me that she would say ' I am going to Isetan!' :D
Just as they were about to go in, the teacher decided that the girls should go in to the studio without their underwear, as some of the young gals get distracted when they get the 'wedgie' :) The teacher's assistant told me, after the exam, that one of the kids went up to the examiner and told her that she is not wearing any panties. lol!!!
Soon it was her turn to go into the studio with her friends. They got ready their horses to gallop in and were barely able to contain their excitement :)
One final word of advice and the gals galloped in!!
This is probably a big milestone for YX and for us as parents... this is the first time we persisted in something long enough to sit for some exams.. hahahaa! Most times, I pulled YX out of classes cos I got bored and tired of getting her to practice etc. Ballet classes, so far, has been quite relaxing for us.. we sent her there, I swam while waiting for her, she didnt need to do any practices at home... so I guess that's how we lasted so long :P I don't quite care what the results is.. the most important thing is that YX had fun :)
and I am very absolutely sure that she did! :)
